RVcam 795 NOT for RV's
on May 6, 2024
Posted by: CNDTravels
Like the title says, the RVcam 795 is not for all RV's. The mount only accommodates angled windshields such as in cars, some vans, and perhaps some class A's. Its hanging down design, meant for the dash cam part simply will not work with the more vertical windshields found on Class A motorhomes and the like. The simple solution would have been to allow the unit to auto-rotate the display as it does for the camera view but that remains absent. A redesign of the mount would also be a possibility yet this problem has already been present for close to 2 years and support is at best indifferent to these simple changes that could actually be added benefits.
The only reason I am granting 2 stars on this unit is the navigation software is just as easy to use as previous units and the added dashcam is very easy to view and use as well. Unfortunately neither of these allow to unit to actually function on a motorhome.

over all a good unit

Had this for a couple of months and its a nice GPS. Every so often it loses its mind and literally forgets where it is. Yes, I just said that. you have to re set it and then it works fine for a while. Also, sometimes the sound stops working and again you have to re boot the unit. these are some aggravating things it does, but over all its good enough to put up with the problems. its a good buy IMO.

Overall very happy with this gps.

Very happy with this gps and dashcam. A couple of minor things are I wish it showed arrival time instead of miles to destination. In the upcoming city’s would be nice to show the exit number. This is only our second trip with the unit still a lot to explore.

Two bad units in a row

First unit within 2 days started saying” The memory card is degrading! New unit and card! Returned and ordered a second one. Unit started saying thing. As before I removed the card, cleaned and reinserted. Still says the say thing. Drive using unit for 3 hrs yesterday plugged in to the usb power in my truck, unit went almost completely dark. Unplugged both ends and replugged in. When I unplugged it the unit said battery in gps was low? Still dark! Left off for 7 hrs, headed back on trip and it was working again. Unit still popped up about memory card.
I am going to send this unit back for refund also and look at some other brand!

RVcam 795

I bought this to assist me with trip from Jacksonville, FL to Orlando FL to attend a Veterans Conference with an Organization by the name of the 'Forty & Eight', which traces it's start to WWI! The 40&8 Honor Society of Veterans uses the WWI Box Car as it's logo as those small railroad boxcars were used because they had the numbers; 40/8 posted near the doors, which signified that they could load 40 men or 8 horses into a boxcar! That is how the doughboys were sent to the front line trenches to fight!
As I hadn't driven thru Orlando in a numbe of years I found many changes in the Highways going thru there and the RVcam 795 assisted and guided me to my destination quiet well! I had no idea they had built an Express Lane thru Orlando and for the small extra cost it was well that the RVcam795 advised me to use it! At one point near downtown Orlando traffic (I-4, on a Friday!) was 3 & 4 lanes sitting at a dead stop while I drove past them at 60 plus MPH!
Additionally, the voice assist, although I had to turn the volume up to hear it (I'm 75 yrs old) it gives you exceptional instructions and in timely manner so you have time to consider what's being said!
All in All, this is the best GPS I've ever used and I have in the past used several of Garmin's GPS Units!
I give this GPS Unit a solid 10 out of 10! A very good GPS to use!
My son drives Big Rigs and he's going to use and try it out as he's considering buy a GPS to use in his 18-wheeler and this may be of help to him in deciding wheter to buy on specifically for use in the big rigs!

Great features, easy-to-use

Currently on first road trip with the RVcam 795. Bright clear screen, louder than my phone. Clear lane instructions. Wish it displayed current time. And be aware, the RVcam only mounts from above/over head. If mounted from dash, camera is obstructed because it is not possible to flip the screen image.

This was an upgrade from my previous Garmin RV GPS. Garmin did very nice job of adding features. Works great with no problems.
