I have not yet purchased this "pastry beater". First of all because one does NOT beat pastry. Pastry dough if made by CUTTING the shortening into the flour, using blades where handwork is not desired. The vanes on this item, both central and perimeter, ought to be blades. So the, secondly because I am not at all convinced that it works. The 20 second video on this site of the paddle "in use" is completely inadequate. Thirdly, because my experience with coated Kitchen Aid dough hooks and paddles leads me to expect that the coating will come off. Bit by bit, during use. Stainless steel would be less of a concern.
