Awesome for runners!!

The only thing I still wish this watch had was the white band and rose gold watch face but other than that, this has everything I was looking for. So far, I’ve used it hiking, running, standup paddleboarding. Very light. Love the customizable 6 field data screen which can be done on the watch and the phone. GPS now comes multi band and it did very well out in the mountains (ice house trail). Love the color screen (my previous watches 645 music, venu 2S, 745, 245). It’s great Garmin included the altimeter to track those hill elevations (245 doesn’t have that). Love the training stats (venu 2S doesn’t have that). Sleep tracking is informative too (745 doesn’t have that). I had all those other watches and wasn’t happy and kept my Garmin 645 music because of the run stats. Venu 2S was good till I keep accidentally ending runs because of the touchscreen. So Garmin 255s really works well just having the buttons. I’ve used music with Spotify and connected to my aeropex headset and sounds pretty nice. The morning report is a great motivator, nice touch!! The body battery is quite accurate on how I feel throughout the day. As for the watch battery, I charge every 5-6 days depending on activities and that’s tolerable. I plan on doing half marathon races and entered the races and the watch now tells me how many weeks to go to train for the races. Pretty neat! Highly recommended!

Overall very good

I came to Garmin after being a long-time Fitbit user. The latest Fitbits seem less focused on health and fitness and more on being 'smart'. I am mostly happy with this model. I actually prefer the buttons to the touch screen - it is more reliable to use for me, between sweating on the summer runs and wearing gloves in the winter. The GPS, HR and altimetry are very good. The UI is well thought out and a pleasure to use. The selection of watch faces is just enough for me - I strongly prefer the analog look and there is one that is very pleasing. The only imperfection is that the sleep tracking is not as accurate as the previous fitbits were, mainly in the area of tracking time when I am awake but laying quietly. It consistently underestimates the awake time by up to an hour. This is puzzling since the sensor suite is the same or better than the old fitbits. I can only guess it is the data analysis algorithms. Fitbit required a subscription to get the accurate analysis. I would be willing to pay for a similar subscription with the Garmin if I could get comparable accuracy. As it is I have bought an Oura ring to get the sleep tracking accuracy. I'm looking forward to when I can give that up and get back to just one tracker!

A Step Backwards

I've owned the 225, 235 and 245. What made those watches great was they performed the limited number of things they did extremely well. Not sure if the 255 is badly designed, badly made or just has no quality control but it quite simply does not perform well.
The first one I had the GPS didn't work. It worked on the second one but is *less accurate* than the 245 (I've been doing the same run for a decade so I know the distance very well). On both versions the music does not work properly (distorted sound). This is not due to the headphones which work absolutely fine with many other devices including my 245 (and I've also confirmed with another pair that it's due to the watch).

Good but navigation Could be Better

I like the product so far. Battery life lasts a couple of days before charging. Seamless Bluetooth connection. I can run without having to hold my phone and listen to music. Says it can store up to 500 songs and I have about 450 and haven't run into any issues yet. It has all the features I need such as heart rate, pacing, etc. The only thing is when you map out a new course on the Garmin connect app, you have to make sure you start in the exact spot you mapped the start line on the map or it will be out of wack. This is frustrating when I map a new course I haven't ran before and its difficult to tell when to turn.

This is my first Garmin, and I have been trying to figure out how to set it up and use it. I had a little bit of problem with the Spotify app, but once I uploaded the music, it was easy to connect with the headphones. For the first time, I did not take my phone with me, which was really nice.

I bought this a couple weeks ago and I really like all the features it has. I wish the battery life could last a bit longer though.

Perfect watch for starting runners

This is my first running watch and I love it. It literally will tell you a training plan for your next race and makes you work perfectly fine. Music is a plus and not having to take your phone for a run is the best.

So disappointed

I bought this watch because I wanted something to track my time running and play music. When I bought it, they said I just needed the app to set it up. However, once I got the app it said I also needed a laptop and another app to download the music. After spending more than a few hours going though the process, it still didn’t work. The app would say everything was downloaded and the watch would say, go to the app to download. It was crazy making. I decided it’s not worth the time and energy and went old school with a Timex Ironman watch.
