After a trip where we were on planes, buses and trains, we decided to ditch the hard sided carry on and go with these smaller, wheeled type bags. They will fit in the spaces and can be a backpack for when we would do a hike. My only suggestion would be to have an inside pocket for things like passports.

I have been using backpacks consistently for over 3 decades and must say High Sierra is of the best quality. Was offish at first due to the high price, but found out it's worth every dollar!
Great for short or long trips as well as hiking or picnics. Best of the pack.
