Great bike computer

I upgraded to an Edge 1040 Solar from an Edge 820, which I used for 5-6 years. I love having a bigger screen, where I can show up to 10 data fields at once. I also love that I don't need to charge it after every ride or worry about whether the battery will last to the end of a longer ride.

I bought 1040 Solar ,a couple days a go ,I had a fall and activated the emergency systems did not send the alert to my contacts and the screen was forced ,its took 5 minutes for it to reset...

Unreal Battery Life

Having owned many Garmin products over the past 20 years, I can say that the 1040 Solar is one of the best new Garmin products I have ever used. It works, very few bugs, great design, and user friendly. Good job product team!

Worth upgrading for impressive performance

Upgraded from a 530. Loading courses and navigating is super duper fast. I really enjoy the larger size and I wasn't originally a fan of touchscreens but this is responsive and doesn't jump around in inclement weather. Very easy to use while focusing on traffic and road conditions. Battery life seems to be forever. I'm excited to try this on multidsy touring. I have been struggling to get to the home screen during a ride and the pausing navigation sometimes doesn't work but Garmin has been working through bugs. One last thought - the speaker is really loud to the point where I just disable it on those early morning neighborhood rides.

When I receive a message, the font is way to small and do hard to read with that black background. So disappointed. I have to look at my phone to read them.

It’s great product. I highly recommend it. The maps and syncing work. Once you add the screens you want to view during an activity, it’s full steam ahead!
