My favorite bike computer

This is my favorite computer to use. I really like that every most every field is customizable, on rides you get warnings about upcoming hazards like sharp turns in the road, and having the solar screen to help the battery to last a little longer is a nice addition. The big screen is great when using the map screen.
It would be nice if the integration between the Garmin computer and the Garmin Connect app was better. The computer has the ability to have different profiles for your different bikes, but when importing to the app, the gear specific to each profile is not updated and the user has to change it manually if it isn't part of the default profile.

AMAZING BATTERY LIFE

I'm used to having to pull of my cycling computer and charging it after every ride. I've had this unit for 3 weeks and put 500 miles on it and charged it initially and one other time. I woke up early one day and started my long ride before sunrise which definitely impacted how much more battery was used. I really like how easy it integrated my HR monitor and how fast it paired with my phone. I do wish that getting turn by turn directions in an urban area was more intuitive but once you do it a few times it gets easier. The turn by turn could be a bit more accurate or I think I'd prefer it to provide a notification earlier. Especially left turns. I want more time to get into a left turn lane while cycling. Other than that I love the product.

Battery life is awesome

I've always ridden with the latest Garmin computers. This upgrade was definitely worth it. The new features like Power Guide are great. Cycling ability and course demands features are very useful when riding in unfamiliar areas. I've been very satisfied with this computer which I upgraded to from a Garmin Edge 1030.

Good gadget for my long rides

I bought this Garmin 1040 Edge solar for my 200 mile(double Century) ride to ease up on battery wear out. And it did help me. Now I kept on Using it.

Excellent battery life and all the features one could want in a head in unit, use it everyday and can handle all my 15+ hour rides and only really needs to be charged once a week

I purchased my Edge 1040 Solar to replace my Garmin edge 530 that I had for years. I love all the options, how easy it is to use and change the data screens, and the solar charging is a plus.

Horrible software

The Garmin bike computer software is unintuirive, buggy, very difficult to use. I bought the extra battery it mount on. Unfortunately the battery and bike computer use different charge plugs. Basically poorly thought out design and implementation. I wish I had bought a Wahoo instead.
