Bad connectivity. Have to reconnect it every time

It does not record rides seamlessly. I have to constantly try to connect it!

I absolutely love the versatility of the 1040. Pairing is exceptional oand data analysis unmatched. I waited for this for awhile and upgraded from the 1000. Makes me feel connected to my bike and body. Worth every cent!!!

Very Frustrating!

I bought my Garmin 1040 solar fro my current European bikepacking trip. I have spent hours figuring out how to transfer date from Komoot to the Harmin. When I do have it downloaded it is often extremely hard to determine where it is trying to send me. I am not sure if it’s a Komoot or Garmin problem.

Sensors

I have 3 weeks using and I have after last update problems with the sensors keep disconnect. Spe/cadence, heart sensor, Virb 360 camera and bontrager lights.

Should have waited to launch

Out of all my Garmin products, this will be the first negative review that I write. First and foremost, I am a loyal fan of Garmin. I don’t have time to share do you all the stories that I have accumulated over the years using your products, especially then inReach!
In my humble opinion, you should’ve waited and extensively tested the 1040 solar before launching. I have had nothing but issues, and for first time when I called your technical support, the female assistant was clueless! she had no idea even how to run through the device. My device will say overheating and show a fire screen with 250 every 15 to 20 minutes when it’s not even 70 outside. I’m not sure the solar is going to actually give me any benefit. I do like the big touchable screen size vs my old edge, that is a plus. I hope in the future you have nice firmware updates to make this device work properly. Lastly it’s a shame how in accurate your Garman elevation system is it is never accurate and that states for me because I train on elevation and power I’m on your beta program and I will call and discuss this later

Considering returning it

I have a 520 plus. The 1040 with its almost twice as big screen doesn’t allow me to add more fields than my old computer. The touch interface isn’t as good as buttons while fingers are wet with sweat.
It also ignores my manually input resting heart rate. I don’t have a newer Garmin watch, and don’t intend to buy one. It thinks my resting heart rate is 145bpm and that my fitness age is 60! :D It used to be 20 with the 520 plus…

Hard to use

After watching a few YouTube videos on how to use it I still found it hard to navigate within the device, needs to be more user friendly
