Great battery life

I bought this to replace my Garmin Edge1030 when the battery started to swell. I haven't had it that long but so far I like it. The battery life is amazing and I like the screen clarity. I did have it decide to auto reset about 3 weeks ago for no reason and I lost all my sensor connections and screens I had set up for my various ride types. Not sure why that happened. I won't take 9ff any stars...unless it happens again.

The Stamina feature on the 1040 takes cycling to another level. It’s takes away the guess work of what’s left in the tank. You’re able to see your numbers to make a determination about your fitness level during your activity. As the saying goes… “the numbers don’t lie”.

Can't stand up to rain or sweat

I've had this for over a year now. It generally performs well in dry conditions but fails miserably in rain or heavy sweat sessions.
The screen is too sensitive to moisture drops that cause it on screen fields to randomly flip out. On a recent ride in a light rain, my screen completely changed all 8 fields on the display to random fields. The display was completely useless to me. I've had the same thing happen on sweaty trainer sessions.

Adds just enough data to help determine progress or fatigue during training. I like the large screen for my eyes as well.

Garmin Edge 1040 is Pretty okay

I have been using my 1040 for about a month. It helps to watch a few YT videos to get it set up and working. Garmin manual is weak at best. It has good features and pairs with cadence, speed, power, and heart rate sensors easily.

As of late when I load routes from strava the Garmin doesn’t give me turn by turn directions, I am consistently missing turns on my route and sometimes it will show I am off course when I am not, then eventually correct itself.I changed the setting a million times and still get the same results. This is a significant inconvenience because I relocated and I am still learning the area. This last update has made my experience awful. Before the update my turn by turn navigation work fine.

I returned to cycling after a 15 year hiatus where my Cateye cycle computer was state of the art. This 1040 is smarter than I am! I am so overjoyed that I can plan, map and get real needed information in an instant. I can’t tell you how quickly I became completely reliant on the brain of my newly recovered hobby. The ease of use and simple interface are easy to learn and easy to use. It interacts seamlessly with my phone and has a great feature where it will notify my wife if I fall or have an accident.

Poor ride loading

I had the 1030 and was very pleased. Dropped and broke ☹️. The 1040 is impossible to load a new ride. I’ve tried the Garmin sites, you tube, ect…
