Great Features Easy to Assemble

This grill was very easy to assemble by myself. Took less that 2 hours from unboxing, to initial burn off, to grilling a set of burgers and hot dogs. This is my second PB Grill. Handed down original PB700 series to my son as I wanted the size and additional features of the Sportsman 820 series. I really like the flame broiler handle. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that I believe this needs an additional handle on the hopper side attached to legs so that you can move the unit. Currently only way to move is to lift by the hopper handle which does flex the hopper assembly slightly. Over time this may cause some misalignment with
the auger assembly. Very nice looking and Very sturdy unit.

So far awesome. Easy assembly and set up. Everything is working, styling is awesome. Great looking, high-quality. Packaging could have been better. There were some spots where the legs had poked through the packaging and scraped the barrel. The face plate on the control panel also came scratched. But these minor imperfections don't take away from the quality of this grill.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I recently bought a pit boss 850 pro from Lowes. The new pid control is terrible and when I called pit boss they had no answers. Sad because you guys are normally awesome. The 850 pro takes almost an hour to reach 400 degrees and then when smoking chicken thighs at 225 no smoke flavor at all. Taste like over baked. The PID control is to efficient and doesn't produce smoke. Pit boss customer service told me this was normal and to take it back to lowes if I wasn't happy. So I did. I picked up this pit boss 820 sportsman after being a 700 fb user for years. I almost walked away. But this having the older controller. I decided to stay with pit boss against my better judgement. But this grills acts and functions like my old 700 fb and the food is tasting great again. Glad it was a better experience. To bad I wasted 5 hours and 1/2 tank of fuel hauling grills. Not to mention loading and unloading these heavy things lol.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought it two months ago and it’s great!! Easy to use and easy to clean. Have cooked beer can chicken, chicken halves, breasts, shrimp, burgers and veggies. All came out perfect. Doing pork butts next.

Perfect pellet grill

As a hunter, I'm always looking for new ways to cook wild game meat. This pellet grill is SO EASY TO USE and produces a perfect deer steak every time. I've cooked more than just wild game too... salmon, tuna, and beef so far. All turned out amazing. Did I mention how easy it is. Seriously. So easy!

I've had this a month and love it so far, i did tons of research on pellet grills and decided on the the sportsman 820. Very well built and easy to use for this first time smoker. They still don't have a cover for it but i purchased the "QuliMetal Grill Cover for Pit Boss 820 Deluxe/ 820D Wood Pellet Grills with The Side Tray" from amazon its a little short but it works just fine. I have done a 9 lbs pork loin, tri tip, hamburgers/hot dogs and also the bacon wrapped pickles form this website (awesome) on this. Wish i took photos of everything but super easy and love it so far.

INCONSISTENT HOLD TEMP

Ive had this pellet grill for almost about 6 months. And im very disappointed. The temp increments is very frustrating. And ANY temperature that you have set on, will constantly fluctuate by 10-50+. Smoking a brisket as we speak and i have it set to 200. I come out and the temp it at 450!! Not a good smoker. Very disappointed. And this is not the first time ive had this issue. Only reason i give it 2 stars, is because it is OKAY for grilling. But for smoking, this smoker is garbage. Very upset with the purchase. Will be getting rid of it and probably switching to traeger.

Temperature and Grill Cover

The Grill has trouble keeping the temperature that you want. Mine goes higher than I set at. The cover for the grill from Pit Boss is really bad product. The rain goes through mine. I have had two clogged augers. After the second time I have not fixed it or used the grill. I had to complete disassemble the grill to fix it. I don’t want to do it again until I get a cover that works.
