Good power and enough juice for small project even when used with 2.0amp battery. Cut the equivalent of a 4x8 sheet of 1/2" plywood I to several pieces to repair a porch.
I had before great Ihad to buy another one. Because of a problem is I asked for help with getting a blade piece that was stuck in it. You couldn't help. My old jigsaw is workable and runs. I needed the piece of blade that was broken off out. And the place you said that would fix it wouldn't. Unless you have an account or contractor. Really they shouldn't even represent you. There in Duncanville, Pa. I Skil I still have here. Maybe you would let send to you to fix. I even registered it. Food for Thought!

Tool-less blade cover blowout.

I am on my second jig saw. I have experienced the same issue on both. The tool-less blade changer cover just flew off my saw as I was cutting some plywood. As I said earlier, this also occurred on the first one I had. Skil replaced it and I have been using this one for about a year and a half. I am just a home DYI, so it is not an everyday use. I have reviewed the manual over and over and can not find anything I am doing wrong. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I really enjoy my Skil tools, I own about 12 of them, but am now reluctant concerning replacing the jigsaw again. Would appreciate any thoughts or solutions. Thank you.

HI rv54, thank you for reviewing the SKIL jigsaw. We're sorry you're disappointed in the blade cover. We're disappointed too, because what you've described comes nowhere near the level of quality in which our tools are designed to perform. Please give us a call and we'll make this right: 1-877-754-5999. We look forward to speaking with you!
This jig saw packs a good punch, it compares with other companies ive used before. I had 9 tools total from Skil and this has been an awesome addition.

A workhorse with all the right features

The PWRCore 20 Brushless jig saw is a powerhouse of a saw that has all the features you'd expect and a solid battery platform to back it up. I was very impressed by this saw!
For starters it is incredibly comfortable in the hand. The handle and variable speed trigger are well built and comfortable. The tool is hefty but not heavy and when combined with the battery it weighs in at about 5 lbs. Not too heavy but enough heft to keep it from shaking off the workpiece!
The PWRCore 20 combined with the PWRJUMP charger give this tool it's soul. These PWRCore batteries are a pleasant surprise. They bring plenty of punch to allow you to get through whatever you're cutting plus you can easily throw them on to the charger and in 5 minutes gain 25% of the battery charge! Combine all of that with the fact that each one carries a USB port in the back to charge your phone or other USB powered devices and you have a winning battery platform in my opinion!
The saw itself features a dust blower to keep your work surface free of dust and allow you to see your cut line. You can turn this on/off using a toggle switch on the side and I found it to work great! On the opposite side from the dust blower there is a 3 level switch to change the orbital action of the saw. I found the three levels to be spot on as I frequently change this setting depending on the material I am cutting. Zero for a fine, clean cut on up to 3 for a rougher, quicker cut or when you are cutting with the grain.
The blade tool-less holder makes changing the blade a breeze and this saw will accept commonly available T and U shank blades. I did not have any trouble using any of the blades I had in my shop.
The LED light illuminates the work surface well and I find this to be incredibly helpful regardless of the lighting in the room. The LED with it's bright white light brings out the cut line and allows me to stay on track.
There is a lock-out switch on top that allows you to lock the trigger in the off position (not on).
Adjusting the bevel foot is pretty standard and there is a lever at the back of the saw that allows you to loosen/tighten the foot. I found the foot to stay put well after repeated use and changing and I can't say the same for other jig saws I've owned. This mechanism seems to be pretty well thought out.
Overall this is a solid contender for any DIYer on up to some professionals in the field. Skil offers a large variety of cordless tools in their 20v line up and this saw is the second tool I've owned (see my review of the 20v brushless sander). I will definitely be adding more tools to my collection soon!
This jigsaw is built well and has so far cut through hard & soft wood, PVC and steel with precision and ease. Super easy to change blades, adjust cut angles. Light & blower makes seeing cut lines clear. Outstanding and very pleased. Will look to Skil first when in need of replacing older tool or adding to my workshop.
I like the power adjustment the balance and quick change for the blades and also that it stands nice on the battery light could be better though but really like it. My next will be the cordless circular saw. Already have the table saw and mitre saw.i have had my corded circular saw for 30 years still kicking. And why can't you find a SKIL shirt anywhere I have looked I like to upset the Dewalt fan boys.
