Great Power

Just got this saw a couple weeks ago, I have the ability to borrow a lot of tools but it's nice to have certain things on hand like a good cordless saw. This saw has been a great addition, I haven't had it long but it has done a great job. I used it a couple of times on some old solid wood doors that i'm cutting down and refinishing for a new space and it cut through them like butter. It's easy to handle with or without a guide, cuts straight and had great power without getting bound up.

Handy Little Saw

I've used this saw to cut some oak (just for fun), build a quick garage box and then literally just to cut up a 2x6 to burn...Here's what I've found:
- GREAT battery life. I was about 22 cuts into pine and 5 into 3/4" solid oak before it even dropped one bar.
- The blade (unlike a corded model) will choke and stop if you go off kilter or into too much for the saw. I had this happen by doing a crooked cut and by trying to cut into an absolutely saturated 6x6.
- Easy to adjust, swap blades etc.
- Sturdy construction. I'm not one to be nice to circular saws, and usually set them down in the "toss" manner. This one wasn't even fazed.
Were I think this tool is the most useful is for roofing where you could definitely hang it on your tool belt and trim edges. I will use it when I remake some shed doors in the next few weeks, and I'll try to see how many cuts it can do then. Other than that, I really have enjoyed the performance here for the cordless benefit.
The other thing I will say is that the PWRJump will be very handy for when you just lose the juice and can't finish a current cut- 5 minutes and you'll eat right through that cut. 45 minutes later and you're back in business.
Very happy with this tool.

Build a shelf in my shed today. Used this tool for the first time. Battery charged amazingly fast, and held its charge for the rest of the project. Made many cuts through 2 by 6 and sheets of 5/8 OSB as I was building my shelf. Very lightweight, appreciated that the blade didn't continue to spend long after I let go of the trigger. Also had a nice LED light to help you see your lines.

Cuts, Cuts and Cuts

I used this Brushless 20V 6 1/2” Circular Saw to build a horse shelter where there was no power. This saw worked amazing. I used poplar wood that was approximately 8 inches wide by 1 inch thick. The SKIL saw had no problems cutting any of it. I was able to cut every cut for all the siding on 2 complete charges. Was totally shocked at how well it worked. It feels very durable and has a nice rubber grip. This saw is excellent for its long lasting battery and portability. There are a few cons to this Circular Saw. 1. I like using battery operated saws to cut rafter tails or in hard to reach places where chords can be a big hassle. With this saw, the handle is more on the top side of the saw and not the back. This makes it very hard to reach over your head to make cuts. It is much easier to make a cut being over top of the saw. 2. The trigger and the trigger safety button were tough to work together. The safety is a push button and was hard to hold in while cutting. If it were more like a lever, I would find it easier to use. 3. The lever for the blade guard seems to drop pretty low blocking the view to make a cut. I would recommend this saw for homeowners that are not needing to make overhead cuts. I gave the overall rating a 4/5 due to the handle position.

Decent saw for the money

First impression when opening the box was that it doesn't look like what I remember SKIL being. It looks like a more expensive tool.
I charged the battery, which charged fairly quickly... Took it outside and cut some 2x3s for a garden fence.
The saw cut pretty well, but when at the end of the board, it sort of kicked back and bogged down. I had to go back and cut through it again.
It's pretty light and fairly powerful for a battery circ saw.
Overall, this saw seems like it's well built. We'll see about the longevity, but for now I'd say for the money, it's a pretty good buy.

Excellent power and easy to use

I had bought a 18 volt battery powered circular saw of another brand before and I hated it it was not easy or had enough power. That one was terrible cuts on thin plywood and was useless on bigger cuts. I have a corded Skil saw that I used and was pretty happy with. I decided to give battery powered another try and I was not disappointed. It is light and easy to use. The convenience of not having to plug in was great. I was cutting down the plywood ceilings in my 1970 manufactured home. Set the depth of the blade so I did not cut into the joists on accident and this made this go very quickly. It has the LED light which is helpful. It also has a USB charger that was its own separate component that you can put one of the 20 volt battery in and take with you. I did not think it would be useful but I took the kids out to the park for a rare trip out of the house and brought that with and kep my stuff charged. I really like the saw. Glad I tried battery powered again.
