Amasing device, but poor battery life

Everything about this device from build quality to the display is extremely well made except for one thing, the battery. Regardless of if it is running Windows 11 or Arch Linux with the zen kernel, this devices battery seems to last around 4 hours. on power-saving mode and 1-1/2 hours while gaming. It's hard to call a device like this portable when I have to plug it in every 2 - 4 hours.

I had a bad experience to start. I had to reinstall the whole operating system 2 times just to get the windows store to work and 4 hours with Microsoft support. That can even be verified. It is now working properly but it should have worked out of the box.

Power supply breaks easily

Have had the laptop for maybe 4 months and the power supply already is failing. I know it's failing because the backup I purchased started charging the laptop immediately. I usually have 2 power supplies for my equipment so I can keep one in my backpack and one at my desk.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Its a Surface Pro 8, but better!

What's not to like?? Its a Surface Pro 8, but actually good!
The hardware is built solid and I'm never worried its going to break. I love that I have Thunderbolt connections and also the possibility of adding my headphones or mouse plugged directly into the computer via USB-A and Aux port. Plus, who doesnt love an RGB windows to your motherboard? Additionally, I've seen reviews about squishy keyboards, but honestly I like this keyboard more than the new Surface keyboard. The keyboard is pretty stiff, the trackpad is accurate and the keys have pretty decent travel distance. Obviously it's not like an actual laptop keyboard, but its pretty dang close. I've been impressed because of how many reviewers I've seen against the keyboard and how different my experience seems to have been. The unit as a whole product is also slightly heavier than a Surface, but it isnt overbearing.
Performance wise, the CPU was a little slow out of the box, but after all the updates the 12th gen processor is one of the best features. This thing handles anything and everything I throw at it. Processing power is not an issue at all. GPU was about the same. The fact they stuck an i7 and RTX3050 in here is absolutely nuts. I can play Dying Light 2 (on decent settings mind you. The game looks beautiful) and smash zombies with ease, only to turn around and go to class or work and switch to integrated graphics and still get a solid 4 hours of hard work out of it on battery. Your mileage may vary, but I use this thing all day, so a couple hours could be better, but who isn't within 5 feet of a charger these days? Carry the brick in your bag because it's tiny (even though its 100W!) and stop griping.
Both cameras are crystal clear and fairly smooth. Nothing I find that is a step behind any other computers.
I also dont mind writing on it. I use the Surface slim pen 2 and I don't have any major complaints. Yes, my Surface is more smooth, but I don't need very precise details. I mostly take notes and throw out an occassional sketch. If I cared more for extreme detail work, I might have stuck with the Surface Pro, but I also don't feel like I compromised my drawing capabilities for computing power. The difference to me is pretty negligible.
Things I wish ASUS had done are small but should be noted. I did wish they had Windows Hello built into the camera. The fingerprint sensors works great, but because of the recessed design of the power button, sometimes I can't get it first try. I do appreciate the addition of the fingerprint sensor, but facial recognition would be super convenient too given how you pick the device up most often.
I also like Armory Crate (ASUS's software to manage all the cool stuff) but I wish there was a tutorial sometimes. It was confusing when I first switched to discrete GPU functions because there was no affirmation I had done it correctly. Eventually you figure it out, but you really have to dive into it to find all the cool details.
I've also mentioned battery life before, but I will do it again. It's pretty average. Could definitely be better. But for all the stupid things I've made this tablet do the last few weeks, I'm more impressed than I am disappointed. Plus, it's pretty wild how small they made this power brick. Comparatively there are other computers with better battery life, but they arent in a small form factor like this powerhouse.
Overall, I think this thing kicks butt and eats other tablets and computers for breakfast. Its honestly even tempting to sell my desktop and just get an XG mobile for home. I never feel like I have to compromise my setup when my wife wants me to join her on the couch anymore. Homework? Work? Games? It all comes with me now. And the fact I paid the same amount for a Surface with twice as many features is unbelievable to me. Asus is doing it right and I'm all about it.
