cleaning issues
on January 6, 2014

hate cleaning this range. spills stick done too easily; burner liners do not clean well & feel rough after first cleaning; oven window doesn't clean after cleaning oven & isn't clear enough to see through when cooking. Received as gift so will be a while before I can replace it.

Worst stove I've ever used
on February 8, 2023
Posted by: Livmsc3221
I seriously cannot overstate how much I hate this stove. The oven takes like 15 minutes to preheat, for one. Most annoying, though, is the stupid coil burners. I get that it's a safety feature, but I can't even keep a pot of water boiling. I've ruined the timing on dinner several times because the stupid potatoes/pasta/etc. won't stay boiling. Very, very frustrating!!

Hello - Thank you for checking in and leaving your feedback

We are extremely sorry to hear that been disappointed in your range and definitely understand how much of a pain that is. The Sensi-temp technology is a safety feature for cooking. We know it takes a desirable time to cook but we know you will enjoy using the range for years to come.
We will gladly share your concerns with our product design team.

Let us know if we can ever be of assistance and we’ll be happy to help.

Good Basic Stove
on March 1, 2015

This is my second GE electric stove. I prefer the traditional coil burners and manual clean oven. This burners of this stove have excellent heat control. I did have to fine tune the oven temp., but this was easily done. The two right burner switches weren't adjusting properly for the lower temp settings, but GE had the switches replaced and now the stove works beautifully! I have not rated 5 stars because I don't care for the new way that the removable oven door hinges function, with the previous design it was much easier to remove and reattach the oven door. Easy oven door removal is especially important when the oven is a manual clean model. I also wish that GE would offer the timed bake feature on the more basic models. You can only get this feature on the self cleaning oven models.

Sensi-temp is Ignorant

The oven is fine but this idiotic Sensi temp technology is ridiculous. You can't even boil water on top of the stove! This is the same kind of idiocy that requires seat belts or motorcycle helmets.

Hello majikfish- Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We're sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Sensi-temp technology. Starting in 2018, UL regulation requires all coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology. For additional information please take a look at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=37448
If you believe there is an issue with the burners not heating properly, please take advantage of your warranty and schedule service. You can do so through this link: https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm
Hope this helps,

Horrible New Technology

Sensi-temp burners are horrible. Impossible to fry anything on stovetop. Burners shut off mid-frying.

Good day,

We're terribly sorry to hear you do not like the sensi-temp burners and understand your frustration when they turn off. Starting in 2018, UL regulation requires all coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. When the sensor on the burner detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degrees F) the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, heat will resume to the burner. Let us know if you have any questions! Mike@GEA

Burners are awful

I hate the stupid center sensor on the burners that turn them off. I can’t get the temperature to 350 to fry because it turns the burner off! How stupid to put on a stove. My next stove will be gas.

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry to hear about the issues that you've had with your burners!

Starting in 2018, UL (Underwriter's Laboratory) regulations require all electric coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology. Here's how that tech works:

Each burner with this technology has a silver medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must make contact with the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly.

When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degrees F), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, the burner will resume heating. This will not affect everyday cooking as the automatic shut-off is temporary and only happens at a very high temperature.

If you'd like to learn more about this feature, you can click here: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=37448

We do hope this is helpful.

Best wishes

Burners stop working!
on March 27, 2022

I purchased this range for my son around 7-8 months ago and the burners have stopped heating, sporadically. They will be working fine on high and then just cool almost completely down without being turned down or anything. The surface is super hard to keep clean. Worst GE appliance we ever owned.
Ironically, I purchased a very similar range a month prior and am having the SAME issues. GE is certainly NOT what it used to be. I have used GE for a very long time and I am an avid cook so I can promise you the problem is NOT operator error. My personal range has been “fixed” three times, yet still does the same thing. I guess I will have to switch to another brand. Apparently GE ranges are now disposable. You’ll be lucky if you get a years worth of cooking on it!

We’re so sorry for the trouble you and your son have had with your ranges regarding the temperature of the coils and can imagine your frustration. The coils on these ranges use Sensi-Temp Technology to help reduce the risk of oil and grease fires. When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degree F), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, heat will resume to the burner.
