I wrote a review yesterday about my recent purchase of the 1500 Newair cigar humidor. Like I said previously, this humidor is huge. Unfortunately my appetite for cigars is humongous!! I could use another one!!

Alright, so after actually putting this thing in use, this cabinet is amazing. I use this unit to store my boxes of cigars that I don't want out of the box!!....Love the size of this unit!.

Nice quality but lacking control

Nice build quality but I am questioning the location of the thermostat and hygrometer. I have sensors on all 3 shelves and there is a variance of 3-4% in temp and humidity between the top and bottom shelves. I need to have the humidity down to 66° to get it to around 70° on the bottom shelf and around 67° on the top. I also cannot get the temp as high as I would like it. It has a max setting of 72° but I have yet to see a reading above 68° on the top shelf and 66° on the bottom. I am not even 100% certain that the heater works because the units own thermometer never reads above 70° and that is when my sensor shows 68°. The compressor and humidifier both seem to run more often than they should and I would like to see better air circulation.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The 1500 has the same noisy electronic expansion valve (EEV) as the 840 so if this is put in area where you can't hear it then I would consider it. The other issue is the air circulation, I placed calibrated sensors on all 3 shelves and the bottom drawer and monitored the system for 2 weeks. The top to bottom difference was 10-15 degrees and 5-15% humidity, when the compressor kicks on temp and rh swing 10-15 degrees and 5-15% rh 3-4x an hour. I had tested (3) 840s prior to this 1500 and all of them had the same issues, loud EEV and temperature and humidity swings were to excessive. NewAir did take them all back but still has failed to refund me for the last unit I returned (11/10/2021). I decided to modify the system because their customer service although responsive does not follow through half the time so good luck. I designed and printed custom intake and return plenums for 30mm and 40mm ultra quite fans. Once those were installed I again monitored the system for 2 weeks and what a difference, top to bottom is 0.75 degree difference and the 24hr swing is +-0.6 degrees. The humidity top to bottom is now 1.5% difference and the 24hr swing is +-1.5%. To solve the loud clicking noise coming from the EEV took a combination of sound deadening materials and dampening techniques, it still makes the clicking noises I can just barley hear it now. There is no cooling/heating/humidifying system that has the rolling drawers and led lights at this price range. Just be aware it's noisy (audible from 10-15ft) and the temp and rh swings vary greatly from top to bottom and over a give period of time which you would expect (they even state 2% variation in the manual) but not 10-15% difference. Would I recommend it...yes if you are willing to solve the issues and deal with spotty customer service. It's a great base system to start from and if you are a tinkerer it doesn't take much to make it an exceptional system, that is the only reason I would suggest it. If you are looking for a plug and play system unfortunately this is not it and I would seriously consider other options before putting any cigars of value in this system.
