Game Changer

The Speed Queen DR7 dryer has been a game changer with the new steam and anti static features. In almost all cases it eliminates the need for dryer sheets. The best test I did for this machine was putting a load of washed rags in it with the anti static cycle selected. Not only did the rags have virtually no static but they felt softer. All of the lint and strings that normally cling to the rags were in the filter screen. Very impressive. I love this dryer. So many ways to customize how you want to dry things. The steam refresh cycle is also handy for freshening up a shirt or pants that are a bit wrinkly. Overall this is a dryer that hits a home run for me

Puts black marks on clothes

We really wanted to own a set of Speed Queen. So in July, we bought them (it’s December now). Pretty exciting day. All downhill from there unfortunately. Our first washer was fine. But the dryer was putting black marks on our clothes. So we started the process of calling service. They came out three times and could not fix the issue. So our dryer was replaced. The replacement did the same thing. Black marks on our clothes. Called for service again. Same result. Could not fix it. Then we had a completely new washer and dryer set replacement. The dryer once again (3rd dryer) put black marks on our clothes. Moreover, and we did not have issues with the previous washer, we get holes in our clothes. Cuts in jeans, pants, sweaters, pillow cases, you name it. Placed 6 service requests with Speed Queen and they stopped responding altogether. Eventually, and thanks to an awesome retailer (Howards of Glendale, CA) we were made happy. And after 6 months of laundromats and stress it seems like we have a washer and a dryer that doesn’t ruin our clothes. By the way, we did not end up with Speed Queens. We got the top of the line LG 4200 series. Sorry Speed Queen. You did not live up to your reputation of excellent products or service.

The best!!

This dryer is awesome. Just one chosen cycle and my laundry is dry. The cycles take less time than my two dryers in the past 5 years. And, my laundry is dry and less wrinkled.

I want to love it, but it was broken from day one

The title says it all. I bought the W/D pair and the washer is a rock star. The dryer didn't work from day one, with TWO issues. The first is that the steam nozzle squirts a heavy stream of water right at the door, vs a gentle mist. This causes a large amount of water to leak out the door seal and lint trap, and onto the floor. It's enough to cause quite a puddle on the floor. The major electronics for the machine are located in that area under the machine, so hopefully they didn't get soaked. It's a known issue with Speed Queen and a fairly easy fix, I'm told. The part isn't in yet, so we'll see. Next issue:The drum makes a loud thunking noise as it turns. I'm told that's the wheels and pully. I'm also told (sorry, I don't believe this part) that it's NORMAL for my high end new dryer to make a thunking sound and might go away once the wheels "settle in". This particular issue requires the whole dryer to be disassembled...major surgery of sorts. Given the circumstances, I asked for a replacement unit immediately, but was denied.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far it has been a wonderful machine. There are some items that I do need to use a dryer sheet. The dryer is a little louder than I thought it would be.

Fit for a King

As a retired service and installation technician I have worked on all brands of appliances and Speed Queen has been my choice for 37 years. I replaced my 32 yr old Speed Queen washer with another Speed Queen washer and now have added the DR7003WG gas dryer. I KNOW these will be the last ones I will have to buy. American made and it shows. Highly recommend Speed Queen products, you will be glad you bought 1 or 20
