This is a solid pack with a lot of features for people just starting out. I'm a little skeptical of the 30L label - it seems a bit optimistic - but it does have enough space to fit everything I needed for a day of hiking.
Pros - There are a decent number of external attachment points for gear. Compression straps on the sides and gear loops for storing trekking poles or an axe; the side mesh pockets hold a large water bottle with attachment points for a carabiner clip to secure the bottle close above; the sternum strap has a hook on one side for a hydration bladder hose. The back support is solid and feels well ventilated. The top compartment holds lunch and a few snacks pretty comfortably. The dimensions of the main compartment are well suited for some small dry bags, not just to keep things dry, but also organized.
Cons - Some minor build quality issues - zippers feel a bit rough, and there were quite a few threads hanging off the sides. It would be nice to just have some bungee cords or daisy chains across the back instead to more easily and securely attach bulky things like shoes or a jacket. The chest straps also tend to ride up over the course of a day. The waist belt is not padded and can start to dig in after a while, however it is easy to add your own padding.
Nice day pack for day hikes and trips to the office. There's plenty of room and pockets to keep gear, equipment, and laptop organized. The material also seems well designed and durable. For the price it's a good pack compared to higher end brands. My only feedback would be the ties for the main compartment zipper should be thicker but this is a easy fix with some 550 cord.
