I would say the Pavilion is a pretty good laptop compared with the others. I didn't want "the latest thing," because I was looking for something that would last only a couple years. And yet, what was offered in the Pavilion was more than I expected. If there is to be any complaints, the first is the lack of battery detail - there is no way this computer is going to get close to maximum power saving unless it's utilizing the lowest screen brightness, power efficiency settings, no keyboard illumination, and doing the least CPU-related tasks. Although I haven't tested it that much, I can say that email, browsing, and word processing will get me about 7-9 hours using medium power settings (50% brightness, no videos playing, etc.). I did have one day when I watched two hours of video that got me lower than 20% battery. The second complaint is having the F# keys needing the fn button. Example: when I want to press F5 to refresh a page, I have to press fn+F5, otherwise without the fn it mutes the sound. I do like to flip the screen around and use it as a stand when watching shows. The top has a decent magnetic spot where the pen can stay on pretty well, though I wish it could be shoved in an inside slot. Overall, the typing has a great feel, the touchpad is in a good spot that my wrist doesn't get in the way, and the screen is sensitive enough for my tastes. Oh, and the included pen is great! I do have trouble with the fingerprint reader, but that might be because I rock climb and my finger print gets destroyed every couple days. Today it's working fine. Thanks.
A good laptop for an author who also runs a few intensive apps simultaneously. The Warm Gold version comes with a fingerprint reader, although the website says otherwise. My only gripe isn't so much with the computer as it is with the pen - I wish there was a way to turn it off, rather than have it constantly drain battery.
I really love how aesthetic it looks. And it just works perfectly. And it is also portable. Fits just right into my previous chromebook bag. Portable and can easily be switched to tablet mode. Easy to carry around in both home and work.
I chose to give my laptop a few upgrades and I think it was well worth the price. I needed an affordable laptop for school. I searched for months and finally exactly what I was looking for. I love to two in one features as well as the HP pen!
Performs exactly as expected. Solid feel to it. Great to be able to "dock" it with just one USB-C hub that connects to keyboard, mouse, audio and HDMI.
I've only had this laptop for a month so only time will tell if it's durable or not. I bought it to have an alternative to using my iPad and honestly it was just time to replace my old slow Toshiba (yes, they use to make laptops for personal use back in the day). This laptop is the perfect size and weight for me. I'm still setting things up, getting use to Windows 11 and removing a bunch of preloaded apps I don't need or want. Would have been nice if the keys were backlit but being that it's convertible, I can just use it like a tablet with the digital keyboard in low light. The touch screen is responsive (I didn't adjust the default setting). It doesn't have a number pad (which I didn't need or want) and I'm fine with the location of the power button. The trackpad is nice and large (I don't use a mouse). Beware, it can get hot and the fan can get loud at times but it's no worse than my Dell work laptop. I was able to easily hook up a second monitor using an HDMI to VGA Adapter. I bought and installed MS Office Home and Student 2021 separately (I didn't see a need to wait a month for it to arrive configured with software that can be downloaded in less than 30 minutes after purchase). Now for the issues. I had to go online to figure out how to get my Cannon printer to be recognized. That was very frustrating but I finally found a thread where others had the same problem and offered a solution which actually worked. I still have not been able to setup hello sign-in using the fingerprint sensor. I've performed all the Windows software updates and followed most of the online recommendations for checking the biometric sensor driver (too afraid to uninstall and try to reinstall LOL) and I don't feel like fooling with an HP digital assistant. So for that, I'm taking off 1 star.
