Great Coffee - Questionable Engineering

Makes great coffee. Design is sleek and easy to use. Gave it a 4 star for two reasons. 1) Brew time for a full pot is around 10 mins. A bit slower than most but I can live with that. 2) The water reservoir is in a spot that when using the carafe to fill with water the carafe can be tilted so far until it butts up against the open cover. Overall, happy with the value, the design and the coffee it produces but some engineering tweaks might be in order.

Coffee spills

I would have rated this coffee maker 5 stars however the process of removing and returning the pot to the warming plate has a serious issue. It is not a smooth operation and with a full 14 cups of coffee a spill is very likely.

The Latest is Pretty Great

My Black & Decker was ready to retire, so I researched Consumer Reports reviews. This model was rated #1 in its class. It's decanter is bigger than I need, but the touch screen features & clean lines sold me. I had a Cuisinart before B&D and it it continued to perform well until warming plate failed. It was easy to setup & after two months of use, I'm very happy with results. I like that you can turn off "ready tone" & set warming plate from 1-4 hours. I find it works best without using paper filter in gold filter.Note: There was a slight "plastic" taste on the first few brews.

I love this coffee maker the only brand i will buy. The coffee is brewed at the right temperature for me, most coffee makers do not get the water temperature hot enough. I am a dark roast coffee person and like that i can put the carafe on high, like my coffee hot!

Made great coffee for 6 weeks. Then it gave an ERL error message & stopped working altogether. No one knows what ERL means.

Great for only coffee drinker.

I am usually the only person in the household drinking coffee so the 1-4 cup setting works perfectly for me. Having a larger coffee pot allows me to make more when I have guests and isn't as messy as the small pots.

So far so good. My previous cuisinart had a rusted hot plate after only 2 years. Hoping that doesn’t happen again. Coffee maker works well and coffee comes out hot. I Like the sleek design and looks nice on the counter.

Murky Coffee

Even using filtered water, ground coffee and paper filters, the coffee is murky yet tastes good. The gold filter is a joke and now has a permanent home in the back of the cupboard. The large capacity 14-cup pot is great to have since we enjoy iced coffee too.
