Horrible at dehumidifying

This ran at full speed for ~12 hours a day. Over the last 2 weeks of being on, it's not been able to draw out much water and yet continued run a full dehumidification every day. Over the last 2 weeks, it hasn't even been able to fill the bucket more than 2x altogether. Bought a different brand and it drew out more water in comparison within the first 3 hours. Humidify level in my basement has been able to drop significantly compared to the Danby being on for 2 weeks. They are both using the same amount of energy .. so, I don't know what gives.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Owners Manual

The Owners Manual for this product is a disaster. It does not identify the parts shipped with the unit or how to use them. I have included photos of two examples. Additionally, these two parts are not listed in the online comprehensive listing of parts available for this dehumidifier. In addition it does not identify where the attachment is located for storage of the power cord.

We apologize for this experience. The larger hose is the direct drain hose, while the thinner is the pump drain hose. You can use the pump drain hose in the pump drain port while the direct drain hose fits in the connector to avoid problems. Warranty process is horrible. Sent 2 reman units both didn’t work!

Don’t buy because of 2 yr warranty. It failed after 18 months and jumped through several frustrating hoops only to get a remanufacture unit that didn’t work. TWICE! So now I have 3 units that don’t work and have to dispose of.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Product Failure

Unit started icing up 2days after warranty expiation. My last unit lasted 4 years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your Danby product. There are several reasons why your Danby 50 Pint dehumidifier is experiencing this problem. Please make sure the unit is not connected to an extension cord. It must be plugged into a wall outlet. Ensure the filter is clean; dirty filters impede airflow and can lead to frost issues. Finally, give your unit a hard reboot. Unplug it and plug it back in after 15 to 20 minutes. This will allow the unit to return to factory settings. If you still have the same problem after performing the hard restart. Contact our consumer support team at consumerservice@danby.com or fill out your information at https://www.danby.com/support/.
