Magical

I loved building this one. It was a moderate build - not difficult (instructions were easy to follow) and took a reasonable amount of time (not too quick, not too slow). And the minifigures in this one are awesome! Biggest challenge was deciding whether to display the front or the back (as a collector, they are displayed, not played with really). There are a few small tweaks that I would make - for example, the black piping on the side (to look like gutter pipes) could have just been one long piece instead of 3 separate ones (and then would look better from the front); think the doors for the 2 muggle residences still should have knobs on the front since they look silly without them; and wish there was a better way for the extendable ear to attach to the wand. However, this brings me right back to the movie. And the way t#12 disappears is ingenious. If I believed in MOC, I would get some of those clear rods that many of the HP sets use to make people appear to fly and would try to figure out how to attach them so that a few of the folks could fly - I'd also see if there was a way to make it a little bigger so I could easily recreate the moment where Harry and Sirius are looking at the family tree (I love that part of the house!). What a great addition to my collection!

A truly magical set…

One of Lego’s best sets… great selection of minifigures, great architecture, and it moves?! The smooth engineering which does seem like magic! Wonderful attention to detail from the movies and hidden details form the books.

Fine but not great

Compared to all previous HP builds, this recent release is a bit disappointing. This particular set was mechanically cool but was so much less detailed than past HP sets. The cost was similar to past sets but this set is very small, not detailed, and was very quick to build. Previous sets of comparable cost were a lot more detailed, took more time, and were honestly more enjoyable.

Wish it was Bigger

I really like some of the details in this build. However, I wish it was bigger so that it was the architecture was a bit more accurate. For example, I wish that the staircase was included, and the bedrooms were more accurate. The figures don’t all fit at once inside the build. I would have been willing to spend more for a bigger, more accurate build.
