Beautiful but LEGO needs to offer more

I had been looking at this set since it was up for preorder. It is beautiful now that I have it; however, I used to buy more sets but with LEGO arbitrarily raising their prices it has moved out of most price ranges anymore. Especially since they are stuck in the past and not innovating enough. They are still using regular batteries to power these sets and if you want to display them, which is what these sets are made for, they go through batteries very quickly. There should be a USB power option.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Too easy

The lighthouse is beautiful and the effect of the lights is great, but ...
Where the Defender is rated 11 and over this should be a lot more difficult tot build with 18 and over. However, it only took a few hours to build this set and for this price I expected a whole lot more challenge.

Lego needs to make troubleshooting easier

So this is the second set that I had bought that had technical issues that were not easily fixable without tearing the whole set apart . The haunted house elevator and now the light house, the light house light does not spin and I have no idea why because I can’t access the lower gears to figure out why . Great set but legit doesn’t spin lol

Busted power box

I was so excited to finally get this kit, but became quickly let down when I realized the battery box, part 6375902 didn’t work. I watched YouTube tutorials, tried three different sets of fresh batteries and it’s just plain and simply broken, which takes out the entire motorized component of the set. Additionally, this power box is no longer sold, so that’s an even bigger bummer. For the cost of this kit, I shouldn’t have a crucial piece being completely useless. Very disappointed

The rotating light doesn't rotate

Checked every step of the way and the rotating stem worked. As soon as I got the final top on it doesn't rotate anymore. I took down a few layers but cant seem to see what is holding it up. Light works, but doesn't rotate....I am NOT going to take it all apart!

It's never fun when things don't work as they should. From what you’ve described, a little rebuilding might be in order. You’ll want to make sure that each part is in the exact position shown in the instructions and that everything’s pressed together tightly (except the gears, which need some extra room to turn). Well Worth the Price

The sense of scale and presence of this model is unmatched. The Lighthouse towers above most of my other sets and has a sense of awe when looking at it.
The build was a blast and felt fresh every step of the way. All those small details paid off with a beautiful model. The motor function and unique pieces make the set worth the price.
Glad I got one and can’t recommend it enough.

Not as bright as led to believe it would be.

As with others...My motorized light element wouldn't rotate either. Design flaw in that there isn't enough support at top gear connection area to keep shaft anchored in place. There isn't enough force to hold the little conical wheel (32270) against the Turntable base (39892). A solution was that I had to make a spacer in step 447 between grey beam with cross axle (22961) and brown technic brick (6541). Sometimes just pulling technic brick apart from connector peg (61332) was enough to get the friction between gears to operate.
I was disappointed in the brightness of the light produced. Was led to believe that the new element (6400144) "Customized to concentrate light like a real Fresnel lens". An actual 5050 LED would have been amazing. I was hoping that this set would be used as a night light.
This set is sharp and nice detail. Too pricey in my opinion. A basic battery box, medium motor, and a light. Price hike for equipment some of us already have. I miss power function. Now forced to reinvest in new power products with their proprietary connectors and no intention to release adaptors.

Decals missing from package

We did not get the decals in our package and I am very frustrated trying to find where we can get some. I thought Lego was good about this and I wouldn't mind buying them, but I can't find them. Grrrrr!
