Overall wonderful set. The build was fun and i loved attention to details. Including the dual lights and power brick makes it worth the money. Fantastic display piece.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What an amazing build and display piece. If you happen to own titanic it matches it perfectly. Building the actual tower from bottom to top was one of the best Lego experiences I’ve ever had. Definitely worth the cost.

Too Expensive - Awesome Build

Down and dirty, this was wonderful, but think LEGO sets are starting to be over priced. My son (6) and I build a set together every few months - He enjoyed the final stages of the build a lot. He's been playing with the set every day since (10 days). Again, great build, lots of fun, little pricey.... This is probably the last set we buy for awhile...

What was I thinking?

After visiting the Montauk Point Lighthouse on Long Island earlier this year, I knew at once I would be purchasing this set on day one! Unfortunately for me, I never stopped to think it through whatsoever. (Piece count-per price point, size, construction, batteries required etc...) all I could see, at the time was the pluses! The Fresnel lens, the cute little building, and of course, the lighthouse itself. Now that my build is complete, I know the rest of the story, most of which I have already stated. My biggest gripe is the cost. In my opinion it is ludicrously priced! But I bought it so that shouldn't be counted against it. I do however dislike the fact that it takes 6 AA batteries, there are some really large obnoxious grey pieces of plastic that make up the rock structure, that more closely resemble Duplo, than Lego! The size, and construction was disappointing as well! For what it cost, it should have much more!! There were however some pluses that were not expected. Contrary to what is stated on the box, the boat does float! Not a big deal, but funny they would go out of their way to state that it doesn't! I also appreciated that the instruction books (two of them) were safely packed in the box inside a rigid sleeve for added protection. As an adult collector, I very much dislike receiving bent up instruction books! Nothing to do with the set itself, but I would also appreciate more care in packaging the boxes themselves. This one arrived somewhat crushed because it was shipped without the added protection of an outer carton. In conclusion, if I had not already purchased this set, I would definitely wait for a better deal to emerge.

So excited, then so disappointed

I was so excited to put together this lighthouse. I love lighthouses and when Lego came out with this, I couldn’t believe it. Great build, until the end. Light did not work at all. Emailed Lego and was told they would send a new motor after several back-and-forths about testing batteries, etc. Had to take the top section off the check batteries, which were fine. CS rep was great, said they’d send new motor, then got another email from CS saying request was denied. Looks pretty, but doesn’t operate. As the CS rep said, “ A lighthouse that doesn’t light it just a house, and that’s just sad.” Indeed.

The motorized lighthouse is awesome to see running in the dark especially. I thought it was a fun build too.

absolutely LOVE this lighthouse. I brought my family and friends along during the building process on social media. There is one panel on the back side of the lighthouse held by the that (cream) frame you add first. I can touch the panel and see it slightly moves, since it is not secured at the bottom or the sides. I would add a caution when building the top of the lighthouse to not drop anything inside. I had to turn the entire unit upside down to retrieve the dark blue curved piece that fell inside. The piece that covers the battery pack isn't secured, remember, I had to turn the entire building upside down to retrieve the piece I dropped, maybe add this to the end of the building process. I didn't go back and check the pages, but think I built this correctly, I had an issue with the bookshelf inside the lightkeepers house. When I put the roof on, the shelf and bottle fell, because they were too high up on the wall. Since the roof is on, I didn't want to go back and reposition the shelf. Did I say I LOVE this lighthouse? I really do.
