Motor! Action! Love this set!

I'm in love with this set. This is by far my most favorite set I've build. It's fun to build, has motorized function which makes it fun to play and little details like seagull, teakettle inside the lighthouse keepers house etc. I built this as a tribute to my father who spent many years at sea and always appreciated a good lighthouse.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Blew my Mind

I actually received this as a gift from my wife and it goes on the list of one of the top gifts in my life... so much so that I had to come and provide my first review.
This was such and enjoyable build. Every click was a joy to see and hear. the techniques are pretty easy so I can see just about anyone building this. There are 2 books so it's possible for 2 people to enjoy this at the same time. The motor is a bit noisy and that's probably the only negative there is with this masterpiece. It's a MUST OWN.
I would recommend this to a friend!

No Words

My passion is lighthouses and Legos. Sorry, yes in that order 😏
When I found out from Jay's Blog that a Lighthouse was being considered for Legos "No Words" could explain how excited I was. Months of waiting and it was finally here, in my hands. I put it together the next weekend.
I lived on the Oregon coast for years and this Lighthouse brought me home again. The sheer size well "No Words" can describe it. Loved the bright rotating light. Personally I felt the price was just fine because of the details and size.
My only issue is that the rotating light used up the batteries within 2 hours and I bought new batteries just for set. It would behoove Legos to seriously really seriously look into having USB ports on their motorized items. I would love have the light on more but having to replace 6 batteries every 2 hours would get very expensive. Please, Please Legos think about USB ports.
Still when ever I look at the Lighthouse, I smile and have "No Words" for how it makes me feel. Thank you

Absolutely loved this build. As a collector of the Modular Building series, I feel this goes well with them (though technically not part of the series). It’s simply beautiful. I love how the designers finally integrated / hid the battery pack and motor unlike other sets I have that have a motorized option (roller coasters, Haunted House). My only extremely minor criticism is that they could have done more with the cave - put more pirate stuff in it (though I rectified this with some spare pieces I had). But it’s such a minor complaint that it did not justify shaving any points off my rating. Pretty much pure perfection. Bravo Lego!

Excellent kit!

The kit is an excellent one! The new lens and the fact that includes battery box, light and motor, makes it very affordable and desirable! No need to buy additional parts! The amount of details is amazing! The quarters for the lighthouse guardian are incredibly detailed and the illumination of the stove/heater is great. The two mini figures are awesome. The boat with the dog and ores an absolute great detail. The seagull is another excellent detail. The fact that the battery pack is hidden but easy to remove for battery replacement, is such a good detail. I read some reviews about it being too expensive, at over 2,000 bricks, lights, motor, battery pack and a new lens included, my humble opinion is that the price is right! The only flaw I found was on the drive gears for the upper lens assembly. It was skipping teeth. I found that the gears were not meshing well. So, I filled them with a nail polisher and a small file until they meshed without jumping teeth, trial and error. Then I applied two rounds of electrical tape on the upper connector to push the shaft so the gears were closer together and that solved the issue. To flimsy system, in my eyes, but I guess it works good for everyone else. I am building a second one and will rework the drive system, trying to improve it. My wife and I are still debating wether sticker 5 was missing or I lost it! Anyway, I used a piece of aluminum foil and it works like a champ! Overall, I am very satisfied with the kit! Had a lot of fun building it.
