Excellent kit!
on September 13, 2022

The kit is an excellent one! The new lens and the fact that includes battery box, light and motor, makes it very affordable and desirable! No need to buy additional parts! The amount of details is amazing! The quarters for the lighthouse guardian are incredibly detailed and the illumination of the stove/heater is great. The two mini figures are awesome. The boat with the dog and ores an absolute great detail. The seagull is another excellent detail. The fact that the battery pack is hidden but easy to remove for battery replacement, is such a good detail. I read some reviews about it being too expensive, at over 2,000 bricks, lights, motor, battery pack and a new lens included, my humble opinion is that the price is right! The only flaw I found was on the drive gears for the upper lens assembly. It was skipping teeth. I found that the gears were not meshing well. So, I filled them with a nail polisher and a small file until they meshed without jumping teeth, trial and error. Then I applied two rounds of electrical tape on the upper connector to push the shaft so the gears were closer together and that solved the issue. To flimsy system, in my eyes, but I guess it works good for everyone else. I am building a second one and will rework the drive system, trying to improve it. My wife and I are still debating wether sticker 5 was missing or I lost it! Anyway, I used a piece of aluminum foil and it works like a champ! Overall, I am very satisfied with the kit! Had a lot of fun building it.

Striking Setpiece
on September 3, 2022

The lighthouse was immediately at the top of my priority list after its reveal, pushing back my purchase of the Lion Knight's castle by a few months. The combination of functionality and expert design makes this a must-have for anyone with a LEGO display area in their home. The price is justified, in my opinion, by the sheer quality of the build and final result which will keep me coming back to it just to watch it hypnotically turn. The motor isn't too loud either unlike the previous generation of power functions. Highly recommend for anyone with the money to spend who enjoys striking setpieces like this. The photos here can't even do it justice.

Great build, battery pack needs better QC

I was having a great time building this set, as it comes together quite nicely through the rocky coast base, but then the part comes to test the lights and motor, and nothing happens when I flip the switch. I replace the batteries (which could use a design tweak for the lower screws and plate replacement steps, as there's a piece blocking the plate), and so nothing happens. 3 sets of brand new batteries and nothing happens. I've contacted lego for a replacement, but I'm now stuck with a half-built lighthouse until a replacement comes in, as the rest of the build locks the battery pack in place.

We're sorry to hear you had to pause your build and are glad you got in touch to let us know. Your requested replacement will ship from Denmark and have you illuminating the coast in no time.

Don’t like the price? It’s worth it.

I got this set because my grandmother was a huge lighthouse collector. I have been hoping for a set like this since she passed. This build was and is the most spectacular lego I have ever done. This thing comes with a working light, motor and all the cables it needs. Everyone is so focused on piece count but don’t realize all the bigger things that come in this set. This set made me complete the final grieving process with loosing my grandmother. This set will forever remind me of her. Thank you lego, very good job on this one

A Beacon in the Darkness
on September 10, 2022

Let me just start by saying I have many years of building Lego. With that said, out of all of the sets I’ve built the lighthouse is one of the best. I understand peoples concern when it comes to price, however if you skip this set you are cheating yourself. The value is there and here’s why. First off the two mini figures that come with this set are beautiful from the prints and dual molded legs, to the woman’s hat, it all feels authentic and fit the set perfectly. There are many expensive parts and pieces in this set including a new dark blue base plate, motor, battery box, wiring with lighting, rubberized grommets, stand-offs and large dark grey molded rock pieces. They also created a new element with the lens for the lighthouse. The color palette on everything just looks beautiful, the build techniques throughout are incredible with almost no repetition. It appeals to technical builders who like intricate details and engineering as well as classic Lego builders. The model as a whole is beautiful when done, Lego did an incredible job on this one. Everything from the box to the contents inside, build, playability was thought out well. This feels like a premium Lego product and is well worth the price of admission. If you have reservations about buying and are sitting on the fence, I will only say don’t miss this one.

Overall great set
on September 4, 2022

Overall, this was a good build and looks great on display. As with other sets recently, it seems the instructions department has slacked off a little and doesn't clearly show all the locations for the added pieces. Despite the extra challenge, it was still about a 4 hour build.

Too Expensive

Its a fantastic looking kit once built. Start to finish was about 3.5 hours to build. Easy but fun.
Way over priced though. The Saturn V set has similar amount of pieces and is about 1/3 the price. I dont think the motor and light justifies the 300 dollar price tag.
