I bought this to replace my old laptop, a 17” of a different brand. The processor is fast, and handles most of what I’ve tried so far without any issues. The fan can get a little noisy, but it isn’t bad.
The screen is my biggest complaint, which is the main reason for 4-stars. It’s difficult to see on. I have some vision issues, and I find my nearly ten year old laptop to have a better screen. Even fiddling with the resolution, colors etc., the picture almost feels flat and/or blown out. I wish it didn’t, because it can make it hard to do long term tasks for me.
Oh, I sort of wish there were more ports, but that’s an easy enough solution.
Keyboard isn’t terrible but I do wish the directional keys weren’t so short.
Overall, I’d recommend it, particularly if you’ve good to decent vision.
I’m not sure if I’d buy another HP in the future, but this one serves its purpose.

Every time the computer trys to restart after a windows update, it crashes. Nothing but the black screen with HP logo. Nothing works to restore except reinstalling windows and losing all the programs that were added. Next time it happens, I am sending it back to China.
