EPSON WF3540 TOUCH SCREEN/OPTIONS AWFUL!

I'm dismayed that on-board touch screen & options & style are pathetic!! It's like something from the '80's---clunky, very limited choice parameters, pathetic software.
The same is true for hand-held device Epson I-Print software. most choices are locked to computer settings, even fewer than touch screen options.
Epson I-Print software is so limited I find I rarely use it when I need to if not at my computer. Unbelievable, really. I've had to pay for aftermarket apps to squeeze a bit more when printing from tablet or smartphone.
Ink dumps if ever powered off/on is huge waste. BEST TO LEAVE POWER ON ALL THE TIME; then it minimizes ink waste during periodic maintenance-refreshing.
If not for these issues I'd happily give this otherwise great All-In-One five stars. As is, I only recommend it because I've not found an alternate that's better. Otherwise I'd bail on Epson.
Too bad, really. This could be a near perfect printer, were above issues not ignored or ineptly missed by decision makers at Epson. Though, the ink waste is likely intended. It's the reason I always buy aftermarket inks; I just refuse to buy Epson ink in protest.

Many pluses, but a recent minus

We have had the WF3540 for over a year. The performance was really great until recently. We use the printer mostly for photos, scrapbooking, general printing; but also for production of our Christmas letter in December, about 450 pages. I liked the way the printer did not make a fuss over, low ink levels and other ink issues like some other printers do, it would run the cartridge empty, then stop midstream and wait for a replacement. Great.
Other features have been good, i.e. print quality, speed, and general reliability.
Now the downside, in the last production of the Christmas letter, it stopped and gave an error message (can't remember the text, but it was something like it did not recognize the cartridge or could not find it) on the black ink cartridge several times. These were new/just installed Epsom 126's. And it would require a new cartridge each time. It would then not allow use of the cartridge later, I tried. So now I am stuck with 3 full expensive Epson cartridges. I am not a happy camper about this, my first big disappointment.

Left in the dust

I bought this a-i-o because Epson's website makes a big "to-do" about how well Epson works with Mac products. And it did work great--until I upgraded to Mavericks OS just over two weeks ago. Since then, the scanner does not work--not even with Image Capture--because a driver is not available yet. It's hard to believe that Epson was not prepared for the new Mac OS; they do not have a timeline even for when an updated driver will be available.

After just few months, it wont print unless i click on hold and resume printing over and over again. Wireless is terrible. Even when i connected the cable, most of the time it is not printing the first time. I need to try again and again. Turned on and off and then hit print again..sometimes it prints and sometimes it does not...very frustrating...i dont know what i'm doing wrong. Was it because i am using a Mac computer?

The printer will not print envelopes that are formatted in Windows, but automatically re formats envelopes, resulting in the inability to print the same.

PICTURE quality like mud on the most expensive paper.
My printer was defective coming out of the box. It installed easily and air print worked well, however, after printing my first 3 pages I printed a a test page and noticed one horizontal bar was missing. Even though it is brand new, I tried cleaning 3 times which did of help. I did contact Epson and they are going to replace the printer with a refurbished one which I did receive. Even though It arrived with dust on the printer trays, it seems to work, for its first day so far.

Major problems with paper feeding
on March 13, 2015

This printer really struggles to feed only one sheet at a time, to print straight and according margins set in a document (due to paper feeding incorrectly), and to print from the automatic feeder on top. Perhaps I have a lemon, but I am very unhappy with this printer if I am doing anything more complicated than printing a single sheet at a time. Printing multiple copies of a booklet, for example, has been a nightmare.
