Epson Workforce WF-3540 Review

Just installed a couple of nights ago so it is still very new to us. Very happy with the performance, very fast on the printing. Very easy to make copies. The paper feed is very smooth. Have not used the scanner yet but I am sure it will work fine. Have not tried the fax but will set that up later. I really like that it has two trays to put the paper in. One for regular paper and the other for what ever you need. We use drawer 2 for photo paper. The set up took a little longer than I am use to but it is very thorough. It walks you step by step which is nice. Ink cartridges were easy to install. So far very pleased.

Set up clear and easy to follow. Only problem I ran in to is lack of understanding which paper tray is primary since tray one is where envelopes, photo paper and the like are loaded. Would have rather had that tray as secondary.

My review is only based on the set up procedure. It was very easy to follow the instructions and complete the process. It was up and running in 15 minutes.

So far - fantastic. Though I haven't really used it just yet, I wanted to respond to any of the reviews that complained about wireless setup. It seems painfully obvious that those folks failed to read and follow directions. Doing so is quick, simple and foolproof. Do not make your decision on reviews that complain about wireless setup - its a piece of cake!

Ink and Scan Problems

C'mon with the concern over non-Epson ink cartridges. Machine rarely recognizes it's own and I have to periodically pull and re-install Epson brand cartridges.
Scanner problems persist, now on my second 3540, which causes me to refresh the IP address and then get an error message first before the scan panel pops up on my pc. Cannot scan from the printer to the pc - must initiate it from my pc.

Terrible photos

After my Epson scanner died, I decided to upgrade my printer to an all in one model. I've only used Epsons at home because of the good quality photo printing. I opted for the WorkFore 3540 because I could scan, copy, fax (don't use) and print back to back (it isn't automatic) However, I wouldn't recommend this printer for printing photographs. It does an extremely poor job and you have to set the printer for paper used. It doesn't do it automatically as did my other Epsons. I know it isn't the ink I use as other things I print in color (cards etc) come out great. Photos look washed out. I wouldn't recommend this if you want good photos printed.
