While this printer is mostly a show pony, the scanning bed performs basic tasks. Like all Epson products these units require a larger investment if you need to scan any form of photographic negative. In point of fact I have a separate unit for my photographic needs as this serves only as a printer, the inks have a major issue with levels even when printing in black and white.

Up to this point I had only use hp and brother all in one. I decided to try epson workforce and I am loving it. The quality of the print, the access to wifi and fax set up very easy. It looks very modern and compact.

looks "professional," but evidently the engineers never worked in an office. it does NOT print checks easily -- you are okay until you only have 1 check on a page to print -- it won't load, you have to tape it to a full piece of paper. labels -- will not load from the rear feed either, but after MUCH trial and error, they do print from the tray, but that is more trouble than just inserting into the rear feed slot. liked my Epson Workforce 610 MUCH better -- but it died after about 2 years and a LOT of use.

I have owned this printer for 5 months now. I just bought another one for my business. Reliable, easy to use. I have went paperless at home now with this printer's easy scanning capabilities. The software is detailed but easy to use. Epson has won me over. Cheers!

This is an excellent printer. Easy to set up and has great print quality. 3 color/1 black cartridges make for economic printing. Primary use is for art work and color scanning. Excellent software and driver package. No fuss installation and wireless connection.

I have it working in about an hour since I am not a computer bug. Everything seems to work as advertised. However, I would strongly advise Epson to have a novice critique the instructions. They are incomplete and going to the support site is useless without a computer degree. It would also be very helpful if each of the many options be explained in detail. Most are worthless unless one has dozens of hours to experiment. In my case I was misled prior to buying by a tech. YOU CANNOT GET FAXES UNLESS YOU SELECT "AUTO ANSWER" and print all. I did not try without paper however. The principle reason for this purchase was so I could read the faxes before they are printed and filed away so as to save ink and paper. By turning off auto answer my MAC will tentatively accept if I buy a fax modem.

First Epson

This is my first Epson. My old printer stopped working and I saw this Epson Workhorse WF-3540 on sale. I was very pleased with the quality of the product. Having WiFi capabilities and dual paper trays plus the price for all the capabilities sold me. Not many printers offer two trays. My old printer used 6 cartridges where this one uses only 4 so there will be a savings in long term ink purchases as well. The printed page is excellent and photos are very good. The speed for printing and two sided is excellent. I didn't give this a 5 star rating as it is a little confusing to set up the paper tray selection. Default is to tray one but that is the only tray for photo paper so you have to set all functions to use paper tray 2. Directions are not clear but after a hour of hunt and try I was able to set my printer to default all print functions, fax and copy to use letter paper in tray 2.
