Ash tray fire

I have used this grill/smoker 3 times so far. Overall I do like the grill. I used it once for grilling and twice for smoking. The second time I used it for smoking I had an issue with the pellet cup overflowing and causing a fire in my ash tray which was less than ideal. It almost ruined the roast I was smoking.

Came with dented parts and the lid does not fit correctly.

I am not that pleased with the grill i purchased strictly from the material and components themselves. I had to travel for work shortly after I received the grill so I have not had a chance to use it yet. When the parts were unpackaged, the cardboard that was wrapping some of the components was noticeably damaged while most of it was in great shape. the edges of one of the sides of the base, the main lid, and the lid for the hopper all had dents on them. The one on the main lid is right in the middle so it is very noticeable when looking at it. This is not something I would have purchased if seen in person at a store. Another problem with the lid is that the curvature of the lid does not match the curve of the grill sides. This leaves a fairly big gap, which you can see a good amount of daylight from one side to the next. I do not see a place to upload pictures for this review but I would like to be contacted by Z grills customer service regarding this.

I really like using this grill. Very easy to use and monitor. This is my first pellet smoker and I am very pleased. I clean it after every use, so it will keep working great.

Took a bit longer than expected (1 1/2 hr vs 1 per recipe) but worth the wait. Good smoke ring and flavor.
Bit surprised the controller has only a few set temps to set at.

My overall experience with my Z grill has been a positive one. The assembly directions were not too bad, only a few minor things not explained well enough but were figured out. Using my grill, it has been fine. It fires right up and get to target temp in a reasonable amount of time. The ability to clean out the ash without taking the grill apart is awesome. Slide the tray out from behind and dump the ash. My only issue is that the advertised wifi app is inaccurate. It is normally 6 t0 10 degrees off from what the grill is showing. The grill temp is always where I set it to be. I have smoked ribeye's, ribs and an eye round roast in the last three weeks. All were perfect.

Overal very good. I smoke two pork butts to season grill nicely @ 225. Temp fluctuated more than I thought, greater than 5 degrees. 10-15 degrees sometimetimes. It turned off after 12 hours, I might have hit something on the app not sure. I’m very impressed and good purchase so far. Will do ribs next.

Being new to Z grills and reading all the reviews and tips I was pretty confident firing my new grill up, and it could not have been easier. From the initial assembly to this, the experience has been great and I can't wait to really dive into football season and all the things I want to create.
