[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was great and easy to use. So glad we bought one. Highly recommend to anyone on the fence about buying a pellet smoker
I had a ZGrills previously which was my first pellet grill/smoker. Liked it a lot but a grease fire involving our Thanksgiving turkey killed it, I thought. So I got this as a replacement in a hurry for Christmas and... 1st smoke - Brisket for Christmas eve dinner. Came out beautifully. Nice ring, great flavor. Held the temp more tightly than the previous one. Next cook - Christmas Day - I easily configured it for direct flame grilling by removing the drip tray and nudging the heat spreader aside. With the help of a Grill Grate, I grilled 10 ribeyes in short order which also came out beautifully. It was my first time really trying to sear using a ZGrills but I'd promised my wife it'd work. Had the grill marks, had that smokey flavor, and plenty of space to keep 'em warm or cook them longer. Overall I couldn't be happier. The old one still works too, and I didn't even have to replace anything.
Side note: These guys are masters of packing. This whole thing was packed into a box incredibly efficiently.
Negatives: Not many, and kind of nitpicky. A few design decisions had me scratching my head although most were certainly an improvement from my previous model. I miss the storage area underneath that my old model had. When it arrived I did the break-in cook and a brief test grill of some hotdogs. It worked fine, but the fan seemed to always be on max. Before I put the brisket on I moved it slightly, it got a bump, and the fan afterward then acted like it should. The "max fan" situation blew ashes and pellet dust all over the chamber beneath the drip tray. So... glad that the ash problem is resolved, but a slight concern about why it was stuck on max.
I got the Z grill about a year ago. I use it every single week. I love it. It’s amazing. It’s the only one I’ve ever owned. I’m not sure I’d ever have a different one. It’s getting colder and I was thinking about getting one of the thermal blankets.
The grill works as it should. But there’s a couple things that I wish I had known before purchasing that would’ve made me purchase something else. It doesn’t put out enough smoke for my liking. Even on the smoke setting it doesn’t put enough smoke out for me. The temperature dial only has a few selections. And not enough adjustment. I prefer to fine tune my temperature on my cooking. And I can’t with this grill. I’m not the biggest fan of the lack of searing. There’s no direct flame option. The plate under the grates doesn’t allow it. And lastly the manual feed button. No matter what I do I cannot figure out how to get it to work. I’ve read the manual. Watched videos. Still nothing. Again the grill does work as it should. But had I known what I know now. I wouldn’t have purchased it.
I followed the instructions, and the startup went smoothly. I thought my unit came with Wi-Fi, but that's just not the case. If I had Wi-Fi, I would have given it five stars.
Great smoker! Wish it had a front shelf attachment.

Assembly was easy and the directions are easy to follow. The quality is great although on of the legs had a small dent but it’s on the inside so it didn’t bother me at all! I have cooked several times on it already and have been incredibly happy with the results! The only down side is I don’t see any options to add a shelf on the front as that would make this the absolute perfect smoker for me!
