Great Features, but it stopped working

I bought this steam cleaner model directly from Bissell. Loved it when I first used it. Vacuum worked well with steamer and left the hard wood floors looking great. Light-weight, easy of use nice, felt confident the floors were cleaned well. I have 2 labs and cleaning up after their back yard play is always a challenge. On the 3 use of this machine, I plugged it in and the steamer heated up as I saw steam out the bottom of the mop but the vacuum would not come on. I called customer service and went through all the troubleshooting with the rep on line and he gave me the nearest repair facility to take it to. (30 miles from my home). After the unit was at the repair facility for a week, they called and said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Brought it home, it worked for 2 more times and then again on the 3rd time using, which was actually #6, the unit would not come on and the vacuum button would not light up and the unit would not work properly. I am very frustrated at the fact that I need to take it to the repair facility 30 miles from my home again and I am hesitant that I have a defective unit and they are not going to find out why it is not operating properly. Since this is the second time of this issue, I was hoping Bissell would replace the unit. I have several Bissell models, love the deep cleaning pet carpet cleaner we have and have had that unit over 2 years now. This is the 3rd product from Bissell that I have purchased, so I am very surprised this unit hasn't been as good as the others.

Great Little Machine

As an owner of 3 beagles, my kitchen floor gets dirty. It is no problem to clean up now thanks to the Symphony. The ability to vacuum and steam at the same time saves a lit of time and I only have to use 1 machine. And I feel better knowing my floors are sanitary. Thanks Bissell. One question - when will the pads be available. I need a few more!!!

Great cleaning without the dirty water

I did love my old Bissell hard floor cleaner for years, but do not miss dealing with the dirty water collected. The steam and vacuum are very effective, and the new process makes floor cleaning easier. Separation of dry pickups easy to dump, and steam cleans my tile floors well. I bought a new home with hardwood floors and tile and I did not know how to take care of them. I wished that I knew about this product years ago. It vacuums as it is steam cleaning. The weight is just right, I do not have to press down on dirty spots. Its so simple. The best thing ever. My floors are beautiful with this vacuum steam mop.

Good for quick clean ups, steamer function is weak

Things they got right: easy to assemble right out of box, intuitive/straightforward buttons, stands on its own, cord is plenty long, lightweight, vacuum and steam power is decent for quick clean ups on recent messes, mop pad is easy to attach/detach, water container is easy to fill without messes, vacuum container is easy to empty/clean, heats quickly. It took me a minute to get used to cord placement, but now that I am, I like it being attached low on the base. I rarely run it over, and it doesn't get in the way of any other functions or uses. This steamer is easy to pull out of the closet and clean a quick mess up right away. In fact, I think that's its main best use. It is kind of fun to use b/c it's so lightweight, and all in one. Things Bissell needs to improve: The vacuum suction started to wane after a few months of use in my pet friendly house even tho I empty often, and clean the mesh. The steam cleaning ability of this steam mop is WEAK. I had a HAAN steamer, and that thing was a powerhouse. I could walk behind it barefoot and feel the heat on my ceramic tiles, it got into the grout easily and for stubborn spots, only 2-3 passes would usually get the mess up. The pads were excellent at picking up and KEEPING crud, rather than the Bissel pads which get dirty with a few swipes and then you proceed to push dirt around your floor, rarely picking it up. I can use the Bissell, go over spots up to 16 times to no avail. I usually have to do 5-6 full cleanings of my kitchen floor (weekly, it's not like Im waiting months to clean) before the Bissell pads aren't picking dirt up (which also means you have to buy lots of their expensive low qual pads). It leaves streaks, too. I got a combo steamer/vac to save time, and b/c the steam cleaning ability of this steamer is so weak I find myself taking more time to clean my floors b/c of multiple passes. The HAAN and my reg vac did a better job and took less time, less passes, with less pads to wash.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
