not like they used to be

I have used the 3M 8210 respirator for years. These respirators are not of the same quality as they were pre-pandemic. The rubber straps are not bonded well, and break easily. Even pre-stretching the straps does not help. The previous style had an elastic strap, not rubber, and it was bonded fully through the material, not glued to the surface as the new style. If this is 3M's new design, I will be looking for a better replacement.

One size does not fit most

I have used 3M products for years and never had a fit problem. I am a size medium but I could not find a box of medium so I decided to purchase the one size fits most box. Apparently most people are a size small because these masks have to be on the tip of my nose to go over my chin. The straps did not break for me after pre-stretching but I can see where others can run into this problem because the straps do not stretch evenly. If you are not careful you can over stretch a section and risk breakage.

Good mask

These are great masks for the price. The mask itself appears to be identical to the former 3M 8210 plus. The straps, however, are not the same. On the 8210 plus masks 3M used a very robust, elastic fabric material that was extremely durable and flexible. Why do big companies always change what is working so well? For just a few cents a mask, they could put much better straps on these. I hate throwing away good masks just because cheap straps have failed.

Thanks for your feedback and sorry that we did not meet your expectations.
Some of the strap breakage may be due to not stretching the straps prior to donning. Please see the box and user instructions on how to pre-stretch the straps before putting on the respirator.

Normal N95

I work in a factory where we do a lot of machining, polishing, and grinding. I've worn these masks or other 3M N95 masks for 8 hours a day, for a few years now. I can usually get a week out of them before the strap breaks, but that is more than enough time since they are pretty dirty by then. This is accomplished by stretching the straps before use.
The straps are tight for the first day, but stretch out as you wear it and it becomes more comfortable.
It seals tight around my face and is comfortable around my nose. The breathability is good and as the mask gets brown and dirty, the inside stays perfectly clean as it should.
Only downsides are they are a little tough, but not impossible, to wear with safety glasses and during the summer when its hot, it's a little uncomfortable- not unlike most masks. In the summer I prefer to wear the 8210V that features an exhalation valve for better cooling and exhaling. I also found the 9010 fold type mask allows for easier usage of glasses due to its design.
Straps are sturdier than most masks on the market. I’ve yet to have one break.

Straps break

My complaint is the same as others that the straps break easily. To the other complainants you recommend that the straps should be stretched by you 3M before shipping. The mask are fine.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. 3M recommends pre-stretching of the 8210 head strap only prior to the initial use. If the end user makes the decision to reuse the same respirator additional pre-stretching is not needed. Depending on the number of reuses, pre-stretching each time could potentially weaken the head strap. Because they’re considered disposable respirators, they’re not designed for significant reuse.
