I do love the design of this pour-over kettle but I feel there were some major oversights as well. The handle melted and literally dripped off onto the oven glass top when the handle overhung a heated burner in use from another pot. The fact that the handle could not withstand that kind of short term residual heat is pathetic. Additionally, I hand wash this unit with ultra care because a friend of mine had owned the same one and I had noticed his kettle in the color black flecked off the bottom and I did not want that to happen to mine so I made sure nothing damaged it. I ONLY hand washed it with gentle foaming soap and never used a cloth and yet the black still flecked off within very short term use. Even the top of the kettle with the thermometer began fleeing off, so much so that I would find flecks in the bottom in the bottom of the water vessel. Needless to say, I had to use a nail file to reshape the bottom of the handle that had fully melted off. So, yes, the design is fabulous but the chosen materials are very poor given the price of the unit.
It’s hard to really mess up a stovetop kettle, it works, I like the thermometer in the lid, overall it’s fine. I just don’t think the quality matches the price, the lid doesn’t quite sit right, the collar on the handle is just a little off, the plastic components feel kinda cheap. It works, I just think it could be better, more refined.

Much smaller and more pitiful looking than you’d think. Handle melted the first week. Maybe it’s not meant for gas stoves? Spits water when boils. Poor design.

Works well, doesn't last long

I have had a Stagg pour-over kettle for 8 months; I use it very regularly, about 2-3 times a day. It has served me well until recently - the thermometer has loosened from its housing and tends to slip out of the lid. Although the finish doesn't affect the performance or function of the kettle, it began chipping off within months of purchase. Having said all of this, it does pour beautifully and the thermometer still works and shows temp, but it isn't lasting, or holding together, as long as I would expect for the price of the unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Had one in Matte Black Finish, the paint crack under. Had a second one in replacement for the first one and the paint still crack under it. I always used it on glass ceramic surface and took great care of it. Be careful when buy this product and think twice about the finish you want to have.
I like having the temperature indicator to ensure a great brew. The copper tone looks perfect!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty but flawed

My favorite thing about this kettle is the ergonomic handle; I can't believe this isn't standard yet on other kettles! However, the kettle is so delicate. We got the matte black and it immediately got grease stains on it from being on the stove that don't seem possible to clean off. The lid also doesn't seal in place, which took some getting use to when trying to pour out every last drop (because it's also not a very big kettle), and we've already scratched the thermometer casing from the lid falling out. It's beautiful but for the price I wish it wasn't as delicate as it is, and it could stand to be a little larger.
