Limited usability

The included models are alright. I particularly liked the longship and the submarine, and while I wasn't impressed by the whale or the turtle when I looked at the box, in person they both have a definite charm to them and I appreciated their inclusion. That said the plane (which I thought would be my favorite) was underwhelming, the coral is a nothing, and the bird/totem pole/sea monster... thingy... not a fan, whatever it is.
All that said, the "main builds" of this set are sort of secondary to just making your own thing, barely using up half the available parts, but it sort of lets down there. The parts are all either really specialized or they only include one or two of the piece type, making it really hard to make anything coherent or aesthetically pleasing. I like some of the unique pieces provided, but could've used more basic/generic parts. As it stands, requires mixing with other kits to make something good looking outside of the provided models, and so this set feels like a whole mess of "extra" parts rather than a good base.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Oceans of fun!

This was fun! While the builds were simple, there was a lot of things to build. After doing the initial builds, the fun of creating new things was great. This is a good set to use your creativity with.

I have purchased this in advance and so cannot evaluate all aspects of play, but I am very happy with this set. It has a bunch of special pieces, but a good amount of regular ones as well, allowing you to build more than just basic brick things, yet not leaving you with only role specific parts. The parts are, in my opinion, excellently balanced for creating small builds. For a twenty dollar set, I was surprised with the part count, as well as flexibility. My applause to Lego.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The kids loved this set. They really liked all the ideas it came with to build with the ocean them. Lots of fun colors to use. It was really nice to see so many colors of the rainbow. Kiddo sat and played with this for over an hour.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got these Legos to play with my kids. Having multiple kids in the home with different ages makes it hard to find stuff to bond over as a family. With Legos everyone can come up with their own creative idea at their own levels and have fun. We love sitting and building cool designs that come with the Legos and coming up with new designs. For example my 9 year old make a flower garden. Guaranteed hours of fun.
