I bought this because I have zero experience in moving Lego so I thought it would be fun to see what this little box was all about. My sons (8 and 4) built a few and I built a few and WE HAD FUN, guys! We got to see how those gears GO! :) Thanks for putting this out, Lego, extremely happy with this buy!

Moving Legos!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have loved Lego since I was a kid, and now my kids can’t get enough either. I wanted a different type of set, and the Classic Bricks and Functions was interesting in that each of the items you build has some movement mechanism to it. So in my kids eyes, the Legos come to life and move! The set comes with 500 pieces of all sorts of sizes and shapes, and instructions to build a few different items. To make it easier, the set is split into seven bags of Legos, and each bag corresponds to one or more items to build. So you can just open one bag at a time and focus on building the corresponding items. i.e. you don’t have to sort through 500 Legos to find the one you need! We first built the helicopter, which took my six year old about 20 mins following the clear step by step visual instructions (some adult help required). As you roll the helicopter on the floor or table, the gears make the top propeller rotate…very cool…for a six year old! And each subsequent item has some sort of movement features. Some pieces are very very small, so not good to have around young kids, but the box does say 5+. The set does come with an “extra” bag of Legos to make your own creations. Overall a great set for fun and learning!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I started doing Lego about 7 yrs ago, I’m now 56 yrs old. I do them with my 13 y.o. son. We love this function set because you can make things that do something. We’ve only before made functioning items if they were part of a set but with these we can create lots of our own. We are going to add on to this set so we can make bigger functioning stuff. I love the mixture of colors in this set and of course the quality of Lego.

Great introduction to set building

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love Legos. I've loved them since childhood and have wonderful memories of playing with them as a kid. I still buy and complete sets as an adult, but find that the sets I'm building are not suitable to construct with my children. This is both because I appreciate them as a stress relieving, solo activity and because the scale of the project and pieces can be overwhelming for little ones. That is why I love this set. It is a great introduction to Lego beyond freestyle creations. The instructions account for seven small scale models and are easy for little ones to follow. The projects are manageable and each item has a moveable part once assembled adding intrigue and function to the finished product. My son's personal favorites are the helicopter and the organ. This set has been great at helping me share one of my favorite activities with my children in an age appropriate way.

Clever collection of fun builds for all ages

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My children loved building these fun motion inspired pieces, the ability to make the pieces spin or turn after they were complete added a whole new element of play. Some parts were a little tricky to assemble for my youngest, so parents may want to sit with their preschoolers to help if they are needed. We had such a great time with this set, and there are plenty of extra parts to come up with their own designs once they exhausted the projects in the guide book.

Great next step for beginning builder

I bought this set for my 6 year old daughter, who recently got into LEGO through the Friends line. She was able to complete each build mostly on her own, with Dad helping to occasionally push a stubborn Technic axle into place. I (Dad) love the motion that the gears and axles provide, which is helping her see greater potential for LEGO builds... We're learning how to use the gears and spinners from this set to animate the shark from set 31088, which makes this engineer very excited!

Fun and easy to follow

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Put this together with my 5 year old. Fun and easy to follow picture instructions. Some pieces were so small that it made it difficult to snap together so he needed help with that but he was able to put this together. So pieces are TINY so I'm not sure how many times we will be able to put this together before some pieces go missing. Ideally they would have a few extras but overall it's a good value. Fun screen less time with my little person

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves his new Bricks and Functions Lego set. He has so much fun playing with it. It comes with a lot of pieces you need. They are high quality and there is a lot of different things you can do with this set. I would recommend it for sure.
