I love the battery life and ease of use. No gripes so far. Ive taken it scuba diving, daily runs, hiking, swimming. Still haven't tried the ski and biking yet but will do soon.

Garmin is best-in-class

The Epix has plenty of battery life for my backpacking trips and trail runs, and the AMOLED display is clear and visible. For my typical use I get 10-13 days per charge.

Overall good watch

I really like the watch, I just wish it had a better battery life. On full charge it says 17 days, but I barely get 7 days. I previously had the Garmin Instinct, unless I was going somewhere to dress up, I would wear my Victorinox with leather straps. I wanted something that I could wear to all occasions, and this fit the bill. I have nylon straps in different color to make it fun and match what I was wearing. I also have nice leather Garmin bands for when I dress up. I use it to track time, steps, workouts, runs, hikes, kayaking, and mountain biking. But I'm a little disappointed going from the solar Instinct where I could go 20-30 days from charging it to pretty much less than a week. I have yet to do a backpacking trip, but I would be hesitant to have it tracking the whole time, especially if it was really cold weather, if the battery would hold up.

Epix gen 2

The GPS accuracy is top-notch, ensuring precise tracking for all my activities, whether I'm on a trail run or a long bike ride. I especially value the detailed heart rate monitoring and sleep tracking features. The heart rate data is reliable and helps me fine-tune my training intensity, while the sleep insights offer a deeper understanding of my rest patterns, aiding in better recovery.
Battery life is impressive, lasting well beyond a typical workout week, which means I don't have to worry about frequent recharging. The customizable watch faces and extensive app compatibility add a personal touch, making it a versatile companion for both fitness and everyday wear.

This watch is amazing. I feel like I have a personal trainer/coach on my wrist. The new Fenix 8 series will have more bells and whistles but this watch has the same beautiful display and everything I need and much more.

A good upgrade from a Fenix 6S
on September 9, 2024

My daily watch was previously a Fenix 6s. The Epix user interface relies on the same buttons, so is very familiar, but also has a touch screen (that can be toggled on and off). The watch is much more responsive and this is especially noticeable when manipulating a map view (the touch screen also makes map navigation much easier).
The screen resolution is great, and map features are very easy to read (much more so than on my 6s). Readability is great even in bright sunlight, when the illumination is maximum. Unfortunately, the screen always dims after a short, configurable, time out, and requires a button press to re-illuminate. This isn't too much of a problem if you have a free hand, but I find it problematic when kayaking. The trans-reflective screen on the Fenix watches, though lower resolution, really 'shine' in daylight, so may be preferable for two-handed sports.
