I’ve had my Epix for about a month now and I’m really pleased and impressed with all that it can do. I’m kind of a data geek in general, so I the wealth of information it can provide. So far my only real complaint is that I wish there existed a compendium of each and every data field for the watch (actually, for the entire Garmin line) that listed both the name of the metric and the symbol you see on the watch face for that metric. I’ve found partial lists in various places on the internet, but would greatly appreciate it if Garmin would publish an official list of such information. Even better would be if it contained links to articles or discussions about best ways to affect each metric, whether through specific exercises or diet, etc.

The Epix Gen2 is definitely a premium watch with tons of awesome features. It work great and has a super nice display! Battery life is just awesome especially compared to other smart watches!

Great watch with amazing features

I have owned my Epix for approximately 3 weeks. I enjoy having the ability to track sleep, workouts, heart rate, altitude, maps, and weather. One caveat though, is that before the update I was able to see weather on my watch without my phone being on. Now weather doesn’t display unless my phone is on and the connect app running. What happens if you are in a deep woods mountain hike with no cell service? We’ll just pray you don’t get trapped by inclement weather. That is my biggest complaint and concern. I believe the weather should update a few times a day and have all the data for the day. Weather should work offline like the maps.

I bought Epix Gen 2 about 8 months ago. Coming from an Apple Watch the biggest thumbs up was the battery life. Secondly it was the depth of statistics. I also loved the variety of watch faces and the ability to have a variety of stats at a glance.
What i dont like is the accuracy of the heart rate monitor. If you are doing interval training, it can take up to a minute to a get up to your actual heart rate. Sometimes i have to hold onto something for it to read. I always want my stats at a glance and not on gesture or screen tap. I absolutely have watch apps that change face to “pure.” The IQ app is a joke. You install a watch face and/or uninstall another, when you refresh it has uninstalled the incorrect face. Then you have to install the face that was installed and good luck with that.

I’ve had Fitbit watches before, then went with the Apple Watch and finally moved to Garmin. My biggest gripe with the Apple Watch was the battery life which completely drove me away.
I’ve been using the Epix for 3 weeks now and am fully in love with it. It has a great display, the fitness tracking is working fantastic, and the smartwatch notifications (calls, messages, reminders, etc.) work really well too.
There are lots of watch faces available that should cover a lot of tastes but I guess I’m a little special there too as I love data and analog watch faces. Using the standard watch face until I can get my son to program something similar with more complications to show additional data.
I switched the display to always on and get to 4 days with about 1 hour of workout a day which I am ok with. Not quite the 6 days I was hoping for but not the dreading daily charge needed for the Apple Watch.

I also went with the white model but attaching brown leather wristbands doesn’t look suitable so I should have gone with the black model.
