The screen is unbelieveable

As a long time Fenix 5 owner, I was looking for just a bit more out of my watch and data. I was taken aback by the brightness of the screen and the ease at which it scrolls. Theses were all big positives for me. The running data has been very easy to configure and provide timely results.

Love the watch but the instructions are lacking
on June 14, 2023

I got this watch about 3 weeks ago. I love the look and feel and that I can change bands easily. I love the battery life. My biggest issue is that garmin needs to put out a complete instructional video going over all the features and how to set it and other watches they offer up. Also you need to allow Google pay because quite frankly there are not many banks that are going to go through the process of setting up garmin pay there just isn't enough of a financial incentive to do so.

love the epic, eye sight isn't as good as it use to be so have a really bright and large display was something I really wanted. Has all the features I need and looks amazing. Upgraded from a Fenix 6 solar so was a huge improvement for me without losing what I needed

Great little watch with some issues
on June 15, 2023

I've owned the Fenix 5, the Fenix 6x Sapphire and now the epic Gen 2. I love all Garmin products. But I have to admit the epic Gen 2 is the best so far. I love the battery life which is equivalent to my 6x sapphire with always on display. If I turn off the always on display, I'm getting 11 days of battery life with training three times a week. The only issue that happens is the weather app from the factory widget works only 50% of the time. I've recycled the phone and the watch on numerous times to try to fix this and it's still an issue. Hopefully with the next software update they'll fix it.

Watch it nice BUT…

I bought the watch a month ago, and since then I have yet been able to use the Spotify feature on the watch. So far everything else has seen up to par, but that feature seems to be giving me issues even after the troubleshooting.

By purchasing Epix 2 I upgraded from Garmin Vivoactive 4 and now I wish I didn’t do that.
1. Actual AMOLED screen size smaller than outer glass (about 15%). Epix 2 has metallic back and it does not feel as good as plastic back on Vivoactive 4 on wrist skin.
2. There are several features that Garmin didn’t think through. For example, treadmill activity has calibration of distance, but you can’t adjust grade. Obviously, you have different effort on 0% incline treadmill and on 10% - that should be taken into Garmin’s algorithm of calculations of final load. Also, would be logical to calculate load by ability of entering wattage from treadmill reading (or any other gym equipment – stationary bike, Stairmaster, etc.)
3. On some strenuous exercise, like leg press machine, squats, bench press, and particularly Tabata series, watch does not register heart rate properly. It’s way off real HR. The same happens on occasion when biking up hill.
4. Epix 2 can be connected to external temperature sensor, but I can’t find any information whether Garmin algorithms will use temperature factor in calculation of exercise load. Obviously, there are different efforts when you run at 65F vs 100F.
5. Sailing race activity has 5 minutes warning time preset, but you can’t adjust it. It is standard warning time for many regattas, however sometimes you have start time according to your boat handicap ratings and obviously warning time would be different from 5 minutes.
I can go on with other small things that Garmin overlooked but let me stop here.
In general Epix 2 would be good smartwatch with bright screen, maps, a lot of possible activities, but in my understanding has a lot of flaws which can and should be fixed, particularly considering the price!

Better than I expected
on June 16, 2023

This watch was a little daunting at first because there is so much to learn but given time, patience and some YouTube videos I am getting more and more out of my watch every day. I’m very happy with my purchase.

Great battery life. Great features!

I hesitated (just like everyone else) between this one and a solar powered watch. The epix is more for me. I can get over two weeks (turning the screen off) and that's what mattered to me. I wanted the better screen with the epic and still have amazing battery life. I am currently a week into Switzerland and it's at 71%.
