Bought this product and the case snapped on edges two weeks later

Case Falls Apart

My family has been using OtterBox cases for years, and we have always loved them. However, my mom and I both purchased this case for our iPhone 13s, and after about 8 months of use, the lining started detaching from the case. This issue appeared in the areas surrounding the power-off buttons, the volume buttons, and the charging port. A few months later, my mom's case experienced the same problem. Initially, I assumed it was just a defect and contacted OtterBox for a replacement, which they provided free of charge under the warranty. However, after about 7 months of using the replacement case, the lining started detaching again. Despite the case having protected my phone from numerous drops, the detached lining caused the screen to crack immediately upon dropping and I now have multiple cracks on my screen (I know it is my fault for dropping my phone, but I should still be able to rely on my case to offer some level of protection, especially if it is on the pricer side, and this case no longer does this). The fact that this has happened three times with this case indicates a major flaw in its design, and it is no longer protective once the lining detaches.

We're very sorry to learn about your experience with the Symmetry Series case. We know that can be a frustrating experience. Though our cases are tough, there are some variables that can't be accounted for. As far as that stretching goes, there are actually a few things that can cause something like this to happen, but our Otter engineers work hard to keep such complications at bay. We can't extend our warranty to the device, as we aren't the manufacturer. We'd be more than happy to help with a brand new case though. As soon as I opened the product I was disappointed. Not only does the print of the design not look as good in person as it does online but the case feels incredibly weak and flimsy. It's pretty much just an overpriced hard plastic case. I immediately started the process to return it. But also they charge you shipping to return it even though the listing is very misleading about quality. So don't waste your time with this and just get one from another brand all together.

Otterbox states that this is “backwards compatible” for the 12 Pro Max, meaning that it fits the 12 Pro Max’s width which is actually thinner than the 13 Pro Max. Sure, the cut outs and buttons match the 13 Pro Max (meaning the buttons are off for the 12 Pro Max—so not backwards compatible) but the width does not—it’s way too tight as it was made on the width dimensions of the 12 Pro Max. Otterbox messed up here and I will be returning the case. Hopefully they design a case that is ONLY FOR THE 13 PRO MAX. Once they do, I might consider hopping back on the Otterbox train.

Apple actually states the width of both devices measuring in at 3.07 inches (78.1 mm), so you shouldn't notice any issue with the case in that regard. And we certainly do like to make sure one's device will be held securely inside an OtterBox.
