I have had been using the Commuter case for iPhone 11, and now iPhone 13 Pro Max. It was well protected after I dropped my iPhones many times, no crack or broken. Love this good grip and the color.

I'm going to be a little hard on Otterbox here, but only because they've been on the market for so long. I love this case and absolutely recommend it to anyone who has purchased an iPhone 7.
But it could be improved to a 5. Give the case some vents. I'm a mechanical engineer and the one downside of this case to me is that it doesn't allow the case to dissipate built up heat. If this case had even a couple of slits over the motherboard, I would rate this as a 5. Heat kills devices just as surely as mechanical shock (though obviously not quite as quickly).
I know this isn't exactly fair to Otterbox, because basically no case manufacturer designs for heat dissipation, but to me it's important to extend the life of my device.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for cycling

When I'm on my bicycle, I use a CatEye app to track speed, etc and occasionally need to refer to a maps app. So I mount the iPhone7 on a Koomus clip on my handlebars. Since the iPhone7 is reasonably waterproof, I don't want a waterproof case (either hard or soft), just something to add shock protection that isn't too bulky to clip into the handlebar mount. The Commuter case works perfectly for this. I added an amFilm tempered glass screen protector and I'm set.
A month ago I forgot to use the four rubber loops that secure the corners of the phone to the Koomus mount. As I landed after jumping a railroad track, the iPhone came out of the mount and went skittering down the asphalt. When I picked it up, the phone was fine. And I couldn't find even a scratch on the Commuter case!
Great shock protection, yet it still fits easily into the back pocket of my jeans when I'm not cycling.

I absolutely love the otterbox commuter series for the iPhone 7. I love that it has the squared edges and groves on the side, unlike the one for the iPhone 6. This is very helpful in that it helps create a firmer grip and better fit in my hand.
During the first week of having my new case, I had forgotten I placed it on the rear wheel of my suburban and forgotten about it. As I moved my vehicle forward I remembered my phone, that I had just run over. I picked up my iPhone and it worked perfectly, other than dust, no damage on the phone nor the case. Sold on Otterbox for life.

Works well. Only complaint is aesthetic. The case has a hole in the back where I guess the Apple logo is supposed to show through. The 2nd Gen SE’s logo is in a different location than the 7/8, so there is a useless hole in the case if installed on an SE.

I bought this case a few weeks ago. I had to get a new phone because I dropped mine and the screen shattered. Upon getting my new phone I figured I would invest in a case that would ensure the safety of my phone if I were to drop it again. Otter boxes are known for their protection of phones. What I didn't want was a big bulky case so I decided to go with the commuter series. This case is great because it is slim and fits in my pockets easily and also has 2 pieces so it will protect the phone if I am to drop it. Definitely recommend this case to those that want the protection that comes with an otterbox but also do not like big and bulky cases

Good Phone Case but Charging bottom tab will break

I've always been a loyal Ottorbox purchaser. Why buy an expensive phone if you aren't going to buy a nice case to protect it? I like this case and the style. It protects all parts of the case, including a bump over the front to protect the screen. However its been less than 6 months since I bought this case and the little tab on the bottom that covers the charger is already starting to break off. I'm disappointed in this case. Its still a great case that does its job but I hope they look into how they engineer them because it doesn't age well in that area and now its going to look old. If you buy this case I suggest snipping off the rubber bottom as it starts to break off so it will at least look clean...
