Finicky product that works 90% of the time correctly, 10% of the time electronic problems cause problems with a 15 minute shutdown during which you cannot use the grill and must remove meat and use a different cooking technique.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Even my dog loves my Grill

I have had my grill for 2 weeks and have tried several new recipes. Even my dog, Divot, loves the new grill. I went to the butcher shop and purchased several bones. I smoked them for a couple of hours and she loves them. So far everything has been great.I like how quickly the grill reaches the correct temperature.

Major disappointment

The Ex4 has major design flaws and either I got a lemon or just this model requires special attention. Weber has tried to send replacement parts but basically after a few months the circle of taking it apart starts over again. Sadly, Weber offered 20% off new purchase but I’ll be going with another brand. I’ve been sent a retrofit kit for my hopper, new glow plugs, new auger and now after another month of use I received an E7 error code which is random after just using it so this is random. The problem is all the solutions Weber offers for this grill is not very user friendly to work on or take apart. It is time consuming.
I just realized Weber is phasing out the Smokefire EX4 and EX6 and if you look at new line of pellet grills being offered it is a totally new design with the hopper .
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Horrible experience!!

I bought this grill with a bunch of accessories, cover, fold out tray, spent a lot of money. It has been nothing but trouble. It has loaded so many pellets in that when fire catches the grill goes over 600 degrees. Other times it goes out and you can't restart it without going through a 15 minute cooldown even when the grill is cold. I've wasted so much food, time and money on this grill. Weber quality is a thing of the past.

Great grill for quick cooking. Not a good grill for long smoking temperatures to inconsistent. Grill must be cleaned frequently to work properly and it is picky about what kind of pellets you use. Glow plugs and auger motor failed. Weber did take
of the auger motor.

So far so good. Only issue is wi-fi not working. I contacted Weber two weeks ago. Still no return call. Have to check manually the temps. Other than that very happy.

It's not a Grill Replacement

Looking at the picks, reading about the extreme temperatures, loving the idea of not needing to babysit my Smokey Mountain smoker and all the other implied benefits.
Let's talk Grilling. Takes a long time to come up to grilling temperature. Does a great job until you open the lid to turn/flip the proteins. The heat immediately escapes, and you are now waiting another long period of time for the temp to return. This is sorta OK for chicken but not a steak unless you like medium well or worse.
First smoke? Hopper filled to capacity, temp set, timer engaged, now it's time to attend to other things rather than babysit the smoker. [Buzzer sound]. About two hours in, I went to moisten the meat. The temperature had dropped to 145 degrees. The screen said add fuel pellets or some such. Opened the hopper, found a cone shaped hole in the pellets (which were from a brand new bag). I had to "stir" the hopper to get pellets to cover the intake hole. Not my idea of not babysitting the heat.
In summary, to much wasted fuel for a couple steaks, too long to recover temperature, not reliable feeding of pellets.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased the Gen 2 EX-4 for Christmas. I have reverse seared steaks & tuna. Grilled a tri tip & lobster & have smoked ribs & pork butt. Everything turned out well and had a surprisingly good amount of smoke flavor. Having used a pellet grill in the past I was never satisfied with the flavor but the smokefire far surpassed my previous pellet grill.
I would recommend this to a friend!
