Decent pellet smoker. Not recommended for grilling

The grill is built with quality material. The design fits well with my covered porch. I have had issues with the temperature randomly jumping up 150+ degrees when I’m smoking at 200 F. It has happened multiple times. Customer service has been very helpful when the grill was delivered damaged. Unfortunately, instead of replacing the Smokefire, they delivered a whole new smoking chamber which required 4hrs of having to take the parts off one smoker and reattach them to a whole new smoking chamber. Now, I’m waiting for a new lid because it is severely warped and doesn’t close. It burns through a lot of pellets Way more than it should. I hope the issues are resolved with the temperature fluctuations in the future. I don’t want to have to sit next to my smoker for 10hrs waiting for it to randomly spike. Overall, it’s a good smoker. But as a grill it produces a massive flame that throws ash all over the cooking grates and throws ash outside the ash tray. It’s a fairly messy smoker/grill. It’s a very pricey smoker and I took a gamble because I have used a Weber Kettle my whole life. I like the Weber brand but so far I’m not enjoying the SmokeFire yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Please look for an email followup from our Care team soon. Thank you!
I agonized over selecting a pellet grill as there was a mixture of online reviews on the Weber SmokeFire (as well as other brands) on the web. I ended up going with SmokeFire EX4 for 2 reasons - the ability to reach a "searing" 600 degrees (unlike other brands), and i trusted the reputation of Weber because of my long history using their gas grills. I did read about some of the SmokeFire problems that some experienced in the rollout version of this grill. But i also read how Weber was addressing the problems and came out with the Gen2 version of the grill. I trusted that Weber would stand by their product and i can honestly say my trust was not misguided. My experience with the SmokeFire Ex4 2nd Gen over this past month has been a delightful experience with zero problems using of the grill.
I had also reached out to support for some of my "pre-sales questions". The quality of support was superb and solidified my feeling that Weber would truly stand by their product. (Thank you Patric! )
I purchased the SmokeFire EX4 (2nd Gen) from a local hardware store. They assembled and delivered the grill. It arrived right after Thanksgiving, and since Turkey was on our mind, our first pellet grill attempt was a whole fresh turkey. The result was amazing. The turkey was hickory smoked and came out better than the bird we served days earlier. The phone app synched with the grill's controls and made the cooking process incredibly easy.
The grill is so easy to use and control, that we decided to do our Christmas Dinner on the SmokeFire. We found a recipe on Weber's site for Holiday Beef Tenderloin for our main dish, and we cooked that alongside Cast Iron Scalloped Potatoes, and Scallops seared with Citrus Garlic Sauce. All cooked on our SmokeFire with Alder wood pellets - and all came out perfect.
I do have to admit that the Grilled Asparagus with Prosciutto and Orange Mayonnaise (also recipe from Weber website) had to be cooked on our Weber Spirit gas grill. So 100% of the meal wasn't from the SmokeFire. - but 100% of our Christmas dinner did come out perfectly - and was a delight to share with our family.
Like previous comments heat varies, and one side gets hotter than other.

Hello, we are sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing with your grill. This is not the quality we expect from our SmokeFire grill. We have passed your information and our support team will reach out via email. Thanks!
Nice low temperature smoker.A Genesis with a cast iron wood chip box would be better for grilling Steaks and Burgers. The grill controls the user. The user cannot control where the heat is needed. The grill grates are inferior.Porcelain would be an improvement. Large spaces between the flavorizer bars. Grease does not burn up , requiring additional cleaning time. Loud fan on high temperature and uneven heat distribution, hot spot is located in the front right area. Pellets cost ,more expensive than propane. The title should be Wood Pellet Smoker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] What I'm finding most amazing of the Smoke Fire is its ability to easily lay down heavy low and slow smoke, and then be able to sear steaks at 600F.
My current go to is a smoked then seared London Broil. It goes like this:
Remove from refridgerator, season with light olive oil rub then salt, pepper, garlic. Return to FREEZER. Start the Weber on Smoke Boost, in 15 minutes (+/- 200 F) throw the broil on with a temp probe in center.
When probe hits 105, pull the broil, wrap in foil, set to side.
Set Weber to 580, when up to temp, remove broil from foil and sear. It will only take a few minutes per side to reach medium at 135-150. EZPZ

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had my eye on this grill for a long time now and finally pulled the trigger after bonus/tax return time. So glad I did as this has turned out to be a great purchase. I have it down now and originally I thought I would use it on the weekends for long smokes - which I do - but I have also been using it for the regular, during the week meals. The app and built in recipes that sync with the screen and probes is really cool, hoping they continue to roll out more recipes and programs. Very satisfied with my purchase!
