Pros: plenty of smoke, appreciate the smoke taste vs gas, adequate cooking area, wide temp range (can smoke low and slow AND grill/sear), computer monitored/adjusted temps makes smoking much easier than my Smokey Mountain, nice looking grill, comes with two extra probes, I like the direct flame vs ambient heat from a plate of metal (I.e competitor’s design), arguably good value compared with its most famous competitor.
Cons: vastly uneven temps even with grill preheated and lid closed, flame blows to one side (once you learn the “hot” spot and colder spots you can use the variations intentionally, but if you rely on the one built-in probe you’re shooting in the dark in terms of knowing what temperature the food is actually cooking at—frustrating when trying new recipes), lots of moving parts (not confident this will last 15 years like my Weber gas grill), takes a long time to go through the “shutdown” process and you can’t bypass, thin metal body and grates compared to my Weber Genesis which is a cast-iron tank in comparison—so not much ambient temperature to mitigate heat loss when opening lid, requires frequent cleaning compared to gas but that seems ubiquitous with pellet grills, the top rack can be useful but also makes it difficult to turn meat that is under it when the grill is loaded, the cost of pellets vs gas is not insignificant, routing of probe cables from behind the lid (per instruction manual) is awkward and creates a wider gap that releases more smoke (indicating it might affect temperature or intended convection current), pellets hopper not steep enough—requires periodic manual help to avoid a pit forming.
Conclusion: Not sure yet. I’ve had this grill about 2 months and often use it multiple times a week. This is my first experience with a pellet grill. I love grilling! The SmokeFire is fun to cook with, and so far the food has turned out AMAZING most of the time. But for me this is a big investment and I want to feel more confident about build quality and parts not needing to be replaced. The uneven temperature issue seems to be very common from web comments. I’ve never had a grill that cooked perfectly evenly—so I’m not expecting perfection—but this seems a little extreme. I suspect the next generation SmokeFire will have better design to address “Cons” noted above. Just not sure if I want to wait for SmokeFire v3 or learn to live with the quirks of v2…OR go with the more expensive competitor. . .which also has its trade-offs…

We would like to thank you for your thoughtful and thorough feedback! It's great to hear that you are happy with your SmokeFire, though we do understand that there are some areas you are not feeling entirely confident about. We understand that when you invest in a grill, you want it to last and perform the way that you want.
It is important to make sure your grill is fully preheated with the lid closed before adding food. After preheating, the heat will start to even out. When you open the lid, the SmokeFire engine will start running harder to keep the temperature up. When the lid is open, especially for extended periods of time, outside factors such as wind can redirect the flame and heat. It sounds simple, but please keep that lid closed for best results.
Regarding your concern about your grill lasting, please know that you are covered with a generous warranty. Even beyond your warranty coverage, our team will be here to help with any questions or concerns. We want you to feel supported completely with your SmokeFire. The Weber team is here for you 100%. Lastly, The pellet "pit" you described can best be avoided by using Weber brand pellets, though it is possible that the occasional pellet void may happen.
We are always evolving and working to improve our products, and feedback like yours is always appreciated. Thanks again for your time and comments.
We really wanted to like this product after owning several other Weber cookers.
Had controller completely freeze up and shut down cooker on 3 separate cooks, allowing the cooker to get cold and ruin the meat we were cooking.
Contacted company and they wanted to know what brand pellets we used!? At that point we decided to return and make use of the money back guarantee, which also went far from smoothly, taking a month and a half and many phone calls to get our refund.

This isn’t my first pellet grill, but it’s the worst I’ve ever used. If you open the lid to turn steaks or wings the temperature drops over 100 degrees and 10 minutes later it’s still not heated back up. Impossible to cook this way. The temp is still going down. See pics

Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear your grill is not holding temperature. We are happy to help.
It is normal for the grill temperature to change as you're opening the lid to put food in your grill.
When the lid is open, cooler air is entering your hot cookbox. Once the lid is closed, your grill temperature will automatically regulate.
Our Care team will help look into this further. Please look for our outreach soon. Thank you!
7 cooks on my SmokeFire & its snuffed itself out now 3 times. Weber doesn’t know why but mid cook ( 2-3 hours in ) it just snuffs itself out. Super frustrating to be worried during a cook if your smoker is going to stay on. You just cant turn it back on so its into the kitchen oven. Im regretting my purchase

The grill works great over 350 degrees. This grill does not work for low and slow methods. Once the flame goes out, (and it will) it takes a good 10-15 minutes to complete its shut down cycle before you can start reheating. Last time this happened the pellets in the glow plug chamber smoldered the glow plug assembly wire. I was very excited for to put my third webber on the back deck but its just taking up space at this point.

Not the best

I have had this for over a year now and I am not impressed. I like the fact that is wifi and bluetooth, but from an overall performance standpoint, it is lacking. Multiple flame outs. Right side is far more hot than the left. I have to cook with a pan underneath the meat for long smokes, otherwise the rendered fat will fall down and catch fire over time. My most recent frustration with this smoker/grill is the discovery that the piece the glow plug is attached to is constructed with plastic pieces. Plastic does not like heat. The are where the plug attaches was completely melted. So when I went to pull out the glow plug, the entire unit fell apart, now I have to buy a replacement piece. For something that cost so much, you would expect there not to be plastic in a high heat area. I would definitely never recommend this product to anyone.

As an owner of several grills and smokers, I consider the Weber Smokefire EX6 to be a great smoker and grill. It's a beautiful grill, shiny black with tasteful additions of polished stainless steel. In fact, I haven't fired up any of my other cookers since receiving the Weber 3 weeks ago. We usually grill/smoke our dinner around 3 times a week and the EX6 has performed to expectations and then some. I've done 3 briskets to perfection, steaks grilled with perfect grill marks and taste, a ham, chicken wings, several vegetable dishes and 2 turkeys. It seems the only thing we haven't done on the Smokefire is grill a hamburger. The ease of lighting the grill, setting temps, and use of Smokeboost makes it easy to turn out great food, and the wi-fi feature enabled me to monitor and then turn off the grill when the food was done while I was 40 some odd miles away was great. While others are reporting some problems with their grills, I have not had any problems whatsoever. The add-on shelves, on the other hand are flimsy and are hard to put in place, and when collapsing them, almost come off in your hand from their mountings I religiously clean the grill at least every other cook, if not every cook, depending on the type of food I've cooked. I do vacuum out the ash including the residue in the burn pot after every cook. All in all a great purchase.
