[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought a gen 2 a few months ago. Overall I'm very happy with it. The build quality is solid. The software generally works (though there have been hiccups). Great smoker, and versatile for day-to-day grilling. The biggest issues are: 1. the unsealed front of the ash box, which allows embers to escape occasionally, 2. ash floating around in the grill during cooking, 3. the shutdown procedure / time (I wish there were a way to overrule it), and 4. because of the ash buildup, frequent vacuuming is needed. But these are all inconveniences, not deal breakers. If I had room for two grills, I'd use this for smoking and my genesis II for high temperature work, but as a all-in-one option it's the best out there.

Next cook was back ribs, chuck roast, green beans, asparagus. And poppers. Everything was good. Only issue was with connect connection first few trys. Then all was good. Looking foward to continue expeimenting on other types of cooks ie grilling, bbq. Only issue was door was little shifted and had to adjust.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First pellet smoker, but I've owned a Weber Genesis LP grill and a Weber Smokey Mountain bullet smoker for many, many years. The SmokeFire is a good combination of the two. I like the huge cooking area, fast heat-up time (hits 400 degrees+ in 10 minutes or less), and the smartphone app for monitoring progress. It's easy to operate and maintain. Some things to be aware of: it needs to be plugged in to electric power, of course. So if you have a power outage and look to your deck or patio for cooking until power comes back, this won't work unless you have a generator. Wood pellet consumption when grilling (not smoking) is a bigger operating cost than I expected. Whereas a 20lb LP tank lasts many, many grilling sessions, a 20lb bag of wood pellets is good for maybe 4-6? There is a lot of "lost" fuel in the heat up and shut down processes. So be sure to have at least one spare bag on hand at all times. Finally, the SmokeFire doesn't heat as evenly as the LP-based Genesis. The right side of the grill runs much hotter than the left. In all my experience with grilling, that's not necessarily a bad thing since you end up having a couple of different cooking zones for handling different foods and the grill area is so large. On the other hand, I have found that the results from texture to flavor on the SmokeFire are better than on an LP grill. I've had no issues with auger jams that some 1st Gen owners had. I am a little nervous about the life expectancy of the electronic components, but time will tell. Overall, I recommend it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently received my EX6 as a gift from my family. I had been talking about it for a year, since initial release of the SmokeFire line, but also seeing a lot of negative comments on line. Coupled with the fact that I already had three other dedicated smokers (I’m just a home cook, not commercial) along with three other Weber propane or charcoal grills, I couldn’t really justify the purchase.
But my youngest brother has had his EX6 since initial release, has never experienced any of the negative issues that get posted, and insisted on peppering us with pictures of his briskets, shoulders, steaks, etc.. I have never achieved that kind of smoke ring and overall beauty on any of my smokers. My kids saw through my reluctance and presented me with the EX6.
In the two months I’ve had it, I’ve cooked on it about a dozen times. Steaks, salmon, sausages and hotdogs, pork shoulders, all turned out excellent. But the crowning achievements have been the briskets! Just incredible! More recently, a brother-in-law bought his own EX6 and reports similar results.
I have used every mode of cooking available, from SmokeBoost to low&slow to 600F for the best ribeye and NY strip steaks I’ve ever had. All with ZERO issues. The SmokeFire EX6 has performed flawlessly for me and I highly recommend it! In fact, my siblings and I will be presenting my 79yo father with his very own EX6 in the next two weeks, that’s how much my family likes and recommends Weber and the SmokeFire line.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have the second gen ex6. I’m loving it so far! I haven’t had any problems so far. I have cooked everything from steaks, ribs, chicken and several other items on my grill to perfection. I’m thrilled with my purchase and would recommend to anyone looking to purchase a pellet grill!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This smoker is huge! Tons of space to do 3 pork bellies and laugh about it. Also made some killer Tuna Jerky and really only needed half the space. However, I can see myself doing a full suckling pig in the near future so I’m glad to have the option. My only issues have been a flame out when you change temp too often and there is a couple of hot spots, but Weber does disclose this and you should manage appropriately. Next gen is solid and looking forward to wearing this bad boy out.
