[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned a Generation 2 EX6 for about two months now. Although not without a few glitches, overall I am very satisfied, especially with the quality and responsiveness of Weber's customer service. I purchased the grill because I wanted an "all in one": a device that could smoke as well as grill. I realize that this usually requires compromise in that it would not be best at anyone one thing, but that was ok with me. I have not been disappointed. Grilling and smoking experience so far has yielded great tasting food. Although I have experienced a few issues with the grill controls becoming unresponsive, each time I was able to quickly correct the situation without a significant interruption. I am hopeful that Weber will continue to make improvements, especially in software which appears to the the root of most problems, and roll them out to owners. In all, very satisfied and 4 stars only because of the few issues that have occurred.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Weber has gone and done it again. Built the best pellet smoker on the market today. I have always been drawn to Weber because in today's disposable world Weber prides itself in offering products that stand the test of time. The EX6 is no different, from the quality craftsmanship to a customer service department that's second to none I'm assured my Smokefire will be handed down to many future generations. I can honestly say I just purchased my grandchildren's grandchildren's smoker.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The grill is well built and everything you’d expect from Weber. It looks great, as well. The App is slick, including the intuitive Weber step-by-step guides for cooking.
The grill has a lot of flexibility, from smoking to grilling and has really been a great tool for, giving me the confidence to cook things that I would never have attempted with a traditional smoker.
Nice grill, almost set and forget. Nicely made, seems sturdy, but burns more pellets than I expected. Connect App needs to be fixed, but you can grill without it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this grill. You can tell a lot of thought went into the design of this grill. I started using it the moment we were done putting it together. I've made Pulled Pork, Salmon,Shrimp and Chicken on it and it came out incredible. I also love the fact that is is made in the good old USA!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned the ex6 smokefire for a little over a month. While owning it, I cooked an assortment of of food consisting of; brisket, St. Louis style ribs, pork butt, dino ribs, steak and burgers.
Having traditionally cooked on an offset stick burner, the pellet idea was foreign to me. However, my purchase was made based on creature comforts. That being set it and forget it, no fire management, wifi enabled remote control.
Regarding the actual cook itself, everything went with out a hitch. The ex6 seemed dialed in and smoked the meats as you would expect. Smoke ring was achieved, bark and color. My seasoning method consists of pepper and salt and no added flair. I think the smoke flavor could have been more pronounced in all the cooks as that of cooking on a traditional offset. This product is more of an indirect cook method if I were to summarize the process.
Regarding smoking meat vs grilling. The ex6 does grill quite nicely. Burgers and steaks were spot on and temperature was achieved in the advertised 300° - 600° range. Smoking at a lower temperature is self managed at your desired low range for longer cooks.
Capacity is wonderful for larger cuts of meat, I cooked two briskets at the same time to maximize on fuel consumption.
Fuel consumption itself depending on temperature could be more desirable. I felt the ex6 gobbled up pellets to achieve the higher temps. When you compare price per cook, some brands of pellets are priced more and or produced at a different quality than others, but that is part of the game when using a pellet smoker and probably true across brands.
I've not experienced any of the so called issues of the first gen smokefires that were controversial in the roll out of a new product.
Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase and have a ways to go in learning this or that but otherwise the product quality is that of a weber, not my first, and have looked past the notion in a this for that aspect that a dense sense of taste of smoke infusion isn't in the cards for this product untill I find that sweet spot perhaps.
