Overall this is an excellent pellet grill. My one complaint is the Flavor Bars do not fit well and fall frequently.

Brand new, fire box failure after using 3 times

EX6, brand new, lost temperature 1 hr into smoking at 225. This was only 3rd time using and now won’t heat at all. This after Weber replaced my original EX6 after a year of multiple problems. Don’t think they have a reliable pellet smoker yet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Wanted to love it

I have owned other pellet grills but wanted to get a new one that was made in the USA and Weber was at the top of my list since I grew up on Weber grills. Unfortunately my experience with this grill has not been great. When it works I wouldnt trade it for anything. I have had it for about a year or so and have gone through two glow plugs, blown fuses and have on numerous occasions had to change mid cook to finish in the oven or on the stove while cooking for company. The grill will not hold temperature and give warnings to check the manual for sudden temperature drop. I have done everything recommended and nothing seems to work. Like I said I have had many weber grills and I want to love this grill but I may have to go with another brand since I dont have confidence that I can have people over for a sucessfull cookout, especially when I am trying to convince them to dump their brands and go with a Weber
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Control System Bugs

The grill is well designed and cooks great when it performs properly: however, I have had significant issue with the electronic controls. On multiple occasions when trying to cook at 225 for an extended period of time the grill simply shut down. Recently during cooking I tried to increase the grill temperature from 300 to 500 and it immediately went into a "cool down" mode. Had to finish my expensive steaks inside under the broiler. There definitely seems to be some bugs in the control system.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Complete Random Shutdown

I purchased this grill November 21st of 2021 and it is the Generation 2 that was to have fixed some prior issues. I will say that for quick heat for searing or using it to do a one hour smoke on a steak before reverse searing it is great. The major issue I have had and my friend who I bought him the same grill as well, is that any time you do lets say, a brisket, bone in beef ribs, or just altogether a meal that has at least a 3 hour smoke the grill will shut down randomly and you will need to wait for the entire shutdown process!!! This is losing valuable time with the heat loss to your meat!!!!!! This isnt just some times it is EVERY TIME!!!
I clean the grill and fire box after every use which is tedious yet that is what the instructions state. The new upgraded app got me excited to use the grill again today Sunday June 4th 2023 and “ BLAMMO” like clockwork, 3 hours and 20 minutes in the grill shut down and my 170 degree temp I needed before wrapping the ribs in butcher paper so I could continue cooking to the 210 degree mark!!!
This is ridiculous!! I also use WEBER pellets only in this just so there is no excuse! I have replaced the heat element thinking that would help with one of the extras provided when you buy it new and it still has problems!!!!! I have the latest software and app as well!!
Be very wary of buying this grill!
I was a huge Weber fan and am now in doubt of them with this pellet grill!

SmokeFire EX6 - Good Smoker, expensive & too big.

Great smoker, but it burns through a lot of pellets. It seems very inefficient, and there is a lot of excess pellet dust in the basin of the smoker, and on the outside front where the drip pan pull out is. Lastly, there is a risk of grease fires because of the excess grease/fat that drips from the smoking food. It would be great if there were disposable drip pans that are formed for the shape of the smoker bottom. Grease/fat drips into these pans, and then you can dispose of them as needed.

Once running the SmokeFile is fine. Startups tend to over-heat and it takes a while to cool down unless you open the hood and vent heat out. There is no live running temp, just a auto calculated running temp. It makes it impossible to know the actual current temp of the grill unless you use a optional ambient temperature sensor.
For low temp cooking it is adequate. For high temp cooking it works very well.
