Poor Ice Production

I’ve owned the GE nugget machine since they first came out. This is my third and fourth one and I’m really disappointed. The previous two machines were a quality product and would make ice at a rapid place. I just bought two of the new machines and the ice production time is very disappointing. It takes 24 hrs to make a full hopper. My old machines would do the same thing in 4 hours. The only thing I like better about this machine is that the scoop is located on the door. I’m really worried about the durability of the machines I just purchased. I’m a master plumber and both machines are being fed with the best filtered water money can buy. I used to clean my other machines annually whether they needed it or not. Curious to see how long these new ones keep producing ice. They sure work hard for the minimal production they put out. I gave it 3 stars because it does make ice. At least for now.

We want to help and provide some guidance with the low ice production you are experiencing on your unit. We recommend making sure the drain is not restricted and check the line for any kinks. Also, the room temperature may be high. This model icemaker is designed to operate at its best in temperatures between 60 and 90 deg F. GE Nugget Icemaker—highly recommended

This is our 2nd GE nugget icemaker. Really love the upgrades made from the first machine. Always follow the cleaning instructions and recommendations and the machine will last! First one is still making ice 6 years later!!! Hoping this one is just as good!

DO NOT BUY THIS ICE MACHINE!!

This ice machine is wonderful when it works...but it has not worked more than it has worked in the 2 years we have owned it. They have been to our house 8 times & have bascially replaced all parts of the machine & it still does not work. We even bought a warranty after year 1 & they just keep replacing the parts that work for about a month & then it stops working. Now we are waiting on a part that is backordered & no one want to help us. They give you the run around & don't care about the customer. We have multiple holiday events at our house starting this week & we will not have the ice maker until after the holidays becasue of the backordred part. I guarantee you when this part is installed, the ice machine still will not work. It's happened for 2 years now. Again..DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE OR EVEN BETTER ANY GE APPLIANCE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Amazing luxury ice maker

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this ice maker. We fitted it with a Cafe white door to match our refrigerator and drink cooler from the GE Cafe line and it looks so sleek. It makes ice efficiently and our whole family uses it every day. I hope this never breaks, because it is so awesome to have the small nugget ice available 24 hours a day like we are at a beach club! It is my favorite appliance we installed in our brand new kitchen renovation. This also saved us from having a refrigerator with an ice maker, which always seems to break.

A superb replacement

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Some reviews on this icemaker are critical of excess noise. This unit makes virtually no noise and great ice. With only 24 inches of depth under my counter, I needed the shorter depth of this GE unit to fit. Installation was seamless. I highly recommend it without reservation.
