The hinges broke

Laptop was working great until all of a sudden the hinges broke and the screen separated from the base. The laptop was well taken care of. This should not have happened. And of course it happened a few months after the one year warranty expired. Can't recommend this laptop for that reason.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for school

Got the laptop when I started medical school and its going strong two years later. Love the touch screen. Its pretty light weight and durable as long as you don't get too rough with it.

Excellent Laptop for School, Work, or Light Gaming

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using my Lenovo Ideapad 15IIL05 for several months now for school. As someone who uses advanced applications such as Autodesk Inventor and Revit while simultaneously listening to music, browsing the web, doing other schoolwork, etc- I really appreciate how this laptop has the power when I need it and the battery life when I want it in other classes. It's affordable, well made, (it's stood up to me for several months now, the ultimate durability test) and has a pretty decent selection of ports. Some things I really like about it are the keyboard and the screen. The keyboard is backlit, tactile, and easy to use. It also has function keys at the top for volume, brightness, music controls, etc. which are extremely useful. The screen is bright and sharp at 1080P full HD resolution. The only complaint I have about the laptop right now is that the ram can't be upgraded.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery Charging

Oh, if only I'd known the Lenovo approach to battery charging, the time it would have saved. The battery on the Ideapad Flex 5 is allowed to degrade to 94% before charging starts. I though I had a bad AC converter, so I bought a replacement. Also spent a lot of time with technical support trying to resolve the non-problem.

Hinge will break after one year

Do not invest in this product. It has faulty hinges that will fail after a year. After normal use, I opened it one day and heard a crack. I noticed the hinges were stiff and the screen covering was pulling a little, so tried to be as gentle as possible for the next few weeks. After 2 weeks, it progressed to full separation on the left side. The left side will not open fully now and this is a known issue with the laptop that is somehow not covered under the warranty. Do not buy this laptop. It will break in less than a year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
