Great for using as a "bag within a bag" - especially for keeping your valuables close on a flight as you temporarily leave your seat. I can't wait to use this bag as a fanny pack the next time I'm working a convention so I can be hands-free in style.

Fits inside the matching Newport slim backpack

I bought this to use with the matching Newport slim laptop backpack, but I'm not sure yet if I'll ever use the two bags together. The pouch is bigger than I expected, and although it fits well inside the backpack, it adds more weight and bulk than I would like. So, I think instead I will just leave the pouch in my office and then use it on days when I don't feel like carrying the backpack to lunch or to a meeting. It fits my phone, sunglasses, wallet, and a few other small things. I don't really envision myself using it for travel or anything else - I find that the bag hangs a little funny on me due to the position of the straps on the back of the pouch. It can be worn as a crossbody, shoulder bag, sling or clutch (by removing the straps) but not as a fanny pack if you're skinny because the straps don't adjust small enough. So it's versatile and hopefully I'll get some use out of it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
