A Slide for My Z8
on June 19, 2023

I actually own several different camera straps that I've purchased over the years, but the moment I put in my preorder for the new Nikon Z8 I also ordered a Slide for it. I also have one for my Z9. Recently, I was invited to shoot candid photos for a national specialty show for a certain dog breed. I shot over 40,000 frames in six days using both my Z9 and Z7ii (outfitted with a Slide Lite). I thought it was remarkable how comfortable I was using the two Slides (a Slide and Slide Lite) at the same time. This was accomplished Bandelero Style with both straps over my head and the Z9 hanging on my right hip and the Z7ii on my left hip. Is this overkill? Yeah, probably. But the Z9 was outfitted with a Nikon Z 70-200mm f2.8 and the Z7ii with either the Z 24-120mm f4 or the Z 105mm F2.8 Macro lens so I could shoot wide angle, portraits, and zoom in for movement or closeups. The technology of the Slide meant the camera stayed at my hip when necessary, or quickly released bring the camera up to my eye to shoot using the viewfinder of the moment. How does the Slide stay securely in place, yet release so easily? I don't know, but Peak Design engineered it to do just that. The point is, that most people only need one Slide for one camera, and I can't fathom a more ergonomic camera strap system to recommend to someone who's looking for a strap system that works superbly. I also did my first hike with the Z8 last weekend and the Slide works great when you're only armed with one camera as well.

I suffered with a sun-par strap for far too long. This is an essential camera accessory. Absolutely worth every penny. Works great in multiply carry positions, remains comfortable, and attachment system is ingenius and super useful.

Great quality

Bought the Slide after using the Leash for many years. The Leash was great if using super compact and lighter lenses but as soon as I had a heavier lens on my Sony A7SIII it got a little uncomfortable. Now with the Slide, it's so much more comfortable. And the grippy side is great for using on the shoulder.

Works great with a Sony a6400 + 70-200mm. Even works with the 200-600mm. They sent me the wrong color Slide, but it didn’t matter to me.

I've had my Slide strap for a couple of months and think it's the best camera related product I've bought for a while. I would absolutely recommend this item

This is a great product with one minor flaw

I've had Peak Design's Slide camera strap for several years and it works really well with great ergonomics, however I noticed that the steel springs in the clips that connect to the little anchor thingies were starting to rust so I contacted Peak Design and they replaced the strap and were a pleasure to deal with. I would like to see them change the coating on these spring clips or perhaps use a different steel such as SAF 2205 stainless to prevent any corrosion in future

Favorite Strap Ever

I never used a strap until this strap - I hated them, the way the felt on my neck, the way the worked on my camera, everything. This is the best. This is the strap to compare all other straps to. I wore it across France and it's amazing.

Nice Strap, wish it converted to dual harness

I often use two to three cameras on a remote shoot, and all those straps get in the way while packed in my bag. Slide removes all the clutter, and makes it simple to change cameras in a hurry. I wish peak design came out with a duel camera harness system for sports photographers.
I do have couple of concerns with the slide strap, 1) The anchor mount base plate that attaches to the tripod thread on the camera body does not have a pass-through tread on it, so once you attach the peak anchor mount on the camera there is no possibility to attach the camera to a monopod or tripod. 2) The padded part of slide strap which rests on your shoulder is too stiff, making it impossible to roll up the strap when not in use.
Also I do get a little anxious while using it on a pro body with 70-200 f2.8 lens; I know they have rated it to carry 200ibs, but some sort of safety lanyard would be welcome for peace of mind.
Overall I like the product it is a good design, they pay attention to minor details like providing the allen wrench with a mini keychain ring so that you can easily attach it with your other such tools and find it quickly when needed.
