Great comfort
on February 6, 2021
Posted by: Anonymous
Recently got to use the scrap for the first time over a few days of bird watching using my heavy lens & camera. I can't believe the comfort of this scrap. I was able carry it over one shoulder and under the opposite arm. I didn't have to change this configuration like I did with other scraps and just have it around my neck while taking shots. It easily went back into the carrying position when I was walking. The anchor links make easy to change the from my lens mount to the camera when I want to use a smaller lens.

First off I love your products...I have Slide, a Lite and and 3 Clutchs, they work very well for me. I would like to see a longer version of your straps tho as they don't hang on my side where I would like.Thank You.

Well worth the $$$! After trying to find a better camera strap for my DSLR than the one that came with the camera, I stumbled upon the SLIDE via an article rating the top 10 camera straps in 2021. The SLIDE caught my eye and it was the best purchase I've made in recent weeks.

I'll be buying my second slide strap soon. I love how easily I can switch it between gear when I am on the go at an event. It fits comfortably over my shoulder and feels secure.

Incredible Strap

This was my first PD product, and I've had it now for about four years. It's what introduced me to Peak Design's superb materials, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. I was immediately impressed by the ingenuity of the strap's anchors, how strong they were, and how easily they worked with my camera (I'd hated that part of every other strap I'd used!). I don't always use a strap (gasp!), and when I want to take it off, I can do it in about five seconds. I also love the subtle grip texture that's integrated into the webbing — really great to keep it in place over my shoulder.
The one other thing I learned about Peak Design with this strap was their commitment to their customers. Evidently (years ago), these had originally shipped with anchors that were not quite strong enough for their standards. A few weeks after my purchase (with no request on my part), an envelope showed up with new stronger anchors. That spoke volumes to me about PD and their passion to make things right. I've now been a many-times-over repeat customer.

Like many, before purchase my thoughts were (a) it's expensive (b) the sling I'm using works fine and (c) it's gotta be a gimmick with those red dongles and the "flip to grip" business. But a professional photographer convinced me, I got my Slide, and I'm never using anything else. It actually works as advertised. It allows rapid sliding from a carry to a shoot position. The "flip to grip" works and when the Slide is cinched, the camera rides very securely at my back. The anchors (the red dongles) are brilliant, allowing me not only to switch cameras, but more importantly, to rapidly attach the Slide to a 4 lb zoom lens, which means no damage to my camera's lens mount.
The interchangeability is great. It comes with a very small footplate for the bottom (tripod mount), but I also have their bigger footplate that allows not only quick on/off with the anchor system, but then easy mounting in an Arca-Swiss receptacle. The versatility is great.
Are there negatives? Some may find the width/padding not quite as comfortable on the shoulder as a full shoulder pad, but I've had no issues. The only real issue is that it will ride up toward the neck. That is no problem if your shirt/blouse/top has a collar. But with a collarless top like a T-shirt, the edge of the Slide will dig in to the side of your neck. I'd say it's not ideal for people with collarless tops. And while it is expensive, it's value is great. It's no different than any other camera equipment: you want the good stuff, you pay for it. Kinda like life.
I am thrilled I chose to try it and kudos to the designers.

Best Camera Strap I've Used--45 years+
on February 22, 2022

I've seen the Peak Slide advertised, and met someone who uses it on his camera. He let me borrow it for the day, and I was sold. I immediately purchased one for each camera. Why do I like it? I'm a pro, and I don't always want a strap on my camera. Being able to disconnect quickly, leaving just the small anchors with only 2" dangling on each side, solves all of the problems I've encountered over the years. The best I've had before were straps with buckle clips so I could take most of the strap off, but they left 10" of dangling straps that moved, blew around, and got caught in grass and shrubs when I was shooting low. Taking them off was a nightmare--they were the thicker cord and hard to get through the slot on Canons. I can take the Slide anchors off and put them back on in a jiffy if I want to, but I haven't needed to because they don't affect my camera when it's on a tripod like the long straps did. I can put the Slide strap back on the anchors quickly when I want a strap, and I can shorten or lengthen the strap quickly with the unique SLIDE design--no more "inch worming" the strap through buckles while wildlife disappears. It stays secure at any length. I'm super impressed--thank you for solving a problem we've all had for years.
